Indie Survival Horror Game Lone Survivor Getting Switch, PC Remake
Super Lone Survivor is headed to the Nintendo Switch and PC in 2021, remaking 2012's Lone Survivor. While Lone Survivor may not have been on the tip of everyone's tongues as a game that deserves a remake in 2020, the title created by Jasper Byrne may end up stealing the hearts of indie and horror fans alike. The game's announcement on Halloween also makes perfect sense, as its tone is certainly chilling.
An eerie teaser trailer dropped on YouTube as the announcement for the new game coming to Switch and PC. The 37-second video sets the tone for Super Lone Survivor, as characters are seen in a dark subway with an unknown person saying that, "This might be it for you, bro."
The pixel-art horror game is set in a post-apocalyptic world. Indie developers have helped propel the horror genre forward in interesting ways, and Lone Survivor is a great example of a unique horror title. Super Lone Survivor is also an intriguing remake which will receive new content in a scenario named Ascension. The game is being reworked from scratch to take advantage of Nintendo Switch and PC technology. Byrne claims that they never wanted to do a sequel, but this remake with added content is a great opportunity to bring the title back.
A remake of 2012's Lone Survivor may not be one of the Switch's most graphically-intensive titles when it launches next year, but the unique art style, creepy story, and eerie tone could help set it apart.
Super Lone Survivor is set to launch in 2021 for the Switch and PC.
