Limited Xbox Series Pre-Orders Will Be Available To Those Who Couldn't Complete All Access Subscription
Xbox All Access users may be in luck if they didn't get an Xbox Series X/S while using the service. Many people were frustrated by the chaotic Xbox pre-order experience that resulted in a lot of would-be buyers ending up unable to get their hands on a sale.
The PS5 pre-orders were confusing to many and resulted in a lot of glitchy retailer pages, and while Microsoft initially made light of Sony's experience with a tweeted meme, the Xbox Series X had similarly fraught pre-orders. On September 22, many Xbox All Access program users tried to use the service to pre-order an Xbox Series X/S with a series of monthly payments and an included Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. However, technical difficulties led to many people being unable to complete their pre-orders before the console sold out.
Wario64, a well-known leaker who has had confirmed leaks in the past such as the GameStop second wave of PS5 pre-orders, posted a screenshot of an email from Microsoft today on Twitter. According to the tweet, those who couldn't complete their Xbox Series X/S pre-orders using Xbox All Access are being sent these emails that will be followed with another email with more details between now and October 19.
The email screenshot claims that Microsoft has a limited number of Xbox Series X consoles that are reserved for customers in the aforementioned situation, and that there will be a 72-hour window where these people can complete the orders they were unable to before. Unfortunately, as one commenter and Wario64 noted, this is for US citizens only and EU customers may not be getting this opportunity, although nothing is confirmed yet.
After such a tricky Xbox pre-orders situation, this is certainly good news for those who were frustrated when their Xbox All Access purchase wouldn't go through, if the leak proves true. Of course, those who tried to pre-order the Xbox and were faced with technical difficulties are still left in the dust. It remains to be seen whether Microsoft will throw those customers a bone too, or if they'll have to wait until the console release date to order an Xbox Series X the normal way.
This leak does seem genuine, as some commenters responded saying they also got an email, so there's multiple corroborators. Those who received this email should keep an eye on their inboxes for a follow-up for how Xbox All Access customers can get a console. And, hopefully everyone else who wanted an Xbox Series X will get their hands on one soon enough.
The Xbox Series X is set to launch on November 12th, 2020.
