What we know about Fortnite's Fortnitemares 2020 event so far
Ready for some spooky Fortnite Fortnitemares 2020 challenges? Fortnitemares is one of Fortnite's most popular events each year, and for good reason. It's the community's chance to celebrate the best of Halloween season with new skins, fun challenges and new modes, and occasionally some significant changes to the Fortnite map.

I'm just as excited as you are, so I've been digging through the spookiest corners of the internet and the world of battle royale to break down everything you need to know about Fortnitemares 2020. Info on this year's festivities is still scarce, but we'll be updating this page as soon as we discover more.
Fortnite Fortnitemares 2020 release date: When does it start?
Fortnitemares 2020 doesn't have a start date yet. In past years, it's started within just a few days of Halloween. Last year's event started on October 29, and it'll likely start similarly close to the holiday this time around.
2020 isn't a normal year, so it's possible the ongoing pandemic will affect Epic's plans here in some way. But that hasn't stopped the last two seasons from trucking along—Fortnitemares will likely be on time, too.
Fortnite Fortnitemares 2020 skins: What new cosmetics can we expect?
We'll most likely see more Fortnitemares 2020 skins leak as we get closer to the start date, whenever that is. For now, Epic is re-releasing older Fortnitemares skins in the item shop, like the Big Mouth and Teef skins.
As of October 14, Epic has released the Ultimate Reckoning pack, which comes with three Halloween-appropriate skins and back bling. It'll cost you 2,000 V-bucks, but each skin is spoooooky. I particularly like the Grave outfit's bandolier of orange flowers and a Dia de Los Muertos mask. A lot of folks on social media seem to dig the black and white Gnash outfit, which gives off big Beetlejuice-meets-the-Crow vibes.
There's also the Goth Legends pack, which will hit the item shop at a later date.

We do have two relatively new skins that could be considered part of the spooky season, though.
The City Center Set is an appropriately pumpkin-spicey look, featuring a festively orange sweater, beanie, and jacket. You can also get an orange pickaxe and backpack.
The Victoria Saint skin was also previously featured, and I'm sure we'll see it again. It's got a great vampire hunter vibe, which fits right alongside Marvel's Blade, which debuts this season.
As for non-skin cosmetics, data miners like HYPEX have found a handful of items that seem like they'll be added just in time for Fortnitemares. Consumables include the "wbroom," "pepper ming," hop drop, candy corn, jelly bean, and something called "thermal taffy." Sounds positively delicious.
HYPEX also uncovered that brooms may be added as mobility options in-game, although it's unclear if they'll work more like cars or planes. Considering Fortnite has done both, I wouldn't put it past them to let us fly through the air, but they might keep us relatively grounded in the name of balancing.
Finally, HYPEX also uncovered two new loot boxes that players will discover around the map: The broom box (which we assume might be the broom equivalent of a fishing rod barrel) and the candy bucket.

Fortnite Fortnitemares 2020 challenges: What will happen this Halloween?
We don't know much about the challenges coming in Fortnitemares 2020, but previous years give us an indication of the future spine-tingling activities in our future. Last year we battled the Storm King, so could we be fighting spooky variants of the Marvel heroes we've encountered this season? If there are any special new areas, expect to be collecting/destroying things in those spots, too.
We also have some details that will hopefully point us in the right direction.

The Superstore in Retail Row also appears to have been transformed into a seasonal store. Another retail chain falls victim to Spirit Halloween.

Longtime data miner HYPEX uncovered audio of new biomes and POIs that sound quite spooky, leading us to believe that they'll be for new Halloween content.

HYPEX discovered a new animation for the "Ghostly Ghost Henchman" NPC. It's worth noting that the model in HYPEX's animation is just a placeholder, so this new NPC probably won't look like that, but it does seem to confirm that AI henchmen characters will play a role in Fortnitemares.

AI henchmen were introduced back in season 2 when the secret agent theme was introduced. They stuck around for season 3, becoming Waterworld-esque goons, and now they're mostly Stark Industries robots that guard the Quinjet locations and any of Stark's properties.
HYPEX has also discovered that Midas may be returning as an NPC.
