Destiny 2: How to Get Hawkmoon | Game Rant
The new season of Destiny 2: Beyond Light has started, and along with the introduction of Season of the Hunt comes a whole host of new and old gear for players to hunt down from across the solar system. One weapon, in particular, Hawkmoon, is an exotic returning in Beyond Light that longtime fans have been excited to see come back to the series since its last appearance in the first game.
Some fans have dug up some information from the recent updates to Destiny 2 in preparation for the Beyond Light expansion and found where players can expect to find the exotic Hawkmoon. It looks like Bungie will be taking a more direct route to obtain the exotic than when it first appeared in the original Destiny, where it was simply a reward for high-level activities like the Raids and Nightfall Strikes.
In Beyond Light, Hawkmoon will be available in an exotic quest that will become available later in Season of the Hunt, where players will have to jump through a series of hoops for their well-deserved rewards. It isn't entirely clear what Destiny 2's new exotic quest will include when it finally releases, but it will at least be more satisfying than having to endlessly grind activities for a lucky drop. However, if any of the more recent exotic quests from the series are any indication, it likely won't be the kind of thing most players will be able to finish in a single run.
Regardless of how long the quest might be, it's still a better option than wading through exotic loot pools that have notoriously been plagued by unsatisfying duplicates. Considering that exotic quests had been one of the most requested additions from the original Destiny to Destiny 2, it makes sense that bringing a returning weapon to the new title would be best done with one of these multi-step missions. Additionally, if Hawkmoon continues to be as useful in its return as it was in the original, then the long questline will be more than worth the added effort.
Hawkmoon may be one of the most highly anticipated exotic weapon in Beyond Light, due in part to the fact that many veteran players had already had their hands on the weapon in the original Destiny. However, while the returning weapon may be enticing, some of the newer exotics might be more interesting for those looking to see what new gimmicks Bungie is planning on bringing to the table. Then again, a familiar weapon like Hawkmoon might be just what players need to keep moving forward as Beyond Light begins reinventing Destiny 2.
Destiny 2: Beyond Light is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One. PS5 and Xbox Series X versions are in development.
