Mortal Kombat 11 Director Shows Mileena's Friendship Finisher
While it's been out for well over a year, Mortal Kombat 11 is still releasing new DLC characters and content for players to enjoy. Returning fighter Mileena is one of the upcoming additions to the game, with fans campaigning to have the character added since around launch. Of course, with Mileena comes a host of new finishers, though not all of them feature Mortal Kombat's iconic blood and gore.
Mortal Kombat 11 Creative Director Ed Boon shared Mileena's Friendship finisher over on Twitter, showcasing a tea party with teddy bear guests. Mortal Kombat 11's Friendships are all pretty strange, though, Mileena's ranks up there with the best of them. It's just the right amount of absurd, making it an interesting addition to the game.
Before being confirmed, Boon regularly teased Mileena coming to Mortal Kombat 11, though developer NetherRealm released plenty of other notable characters first. Boon has a tendency to mess with his fans, never in a malicious way, though it is always interesting to see how the community reacts to being trolled. Of course, Mileena's confirmation was met with a wave of enthusiasm, especially with the other high profile characters, like Sylvester Stallone's Rambo, joining the roster.
Both Mileena and Rambo, as well as returning character Rain, will release on November 17 with Kombat Pack 2, alongside the game's Ultimate Edition that will also see it released on the PS5 and Xbox Series X. It should extend the lifespan of the game considerably, especially with how few indicators there are of what NetherRealm is working on next.
Not to mention, there are still plenty of rumors circulating about the next content drops for Mortal Kombat 11. There have been rumors of a wide range of characters potentially coming to the game, including the likes of Ash Williams from The Evil Dead, though those rumors have come and gone a few times now. It's unclear if Ash was planned as an addition early on only to be shut down by something like a licensing agreement gone bad, or if it was never even planned in the first place.
Regardless, there's still plenty on the horizon for the game. Mileena's gameplay trailer was an impressive demonstration of the character's abilities, and there are only a few more days until players get to experience the fighter for themselves. It seems likely that there will be even more new characters in the future, but who those will end up being remains to be seen.
Mortal Kombat 11 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One. PS5 and Xbox Series X versions release on November 17.
