New Hitman 3 Location Will Be Revealed Tomorrow | Game Rant
IO Interactive's Hitman 3 is coming to current and next-gen consoles early next year, including a cloud-based version of Hitman 3 on Switch. The developer promises a "globetrotting adventure" to conclude its World of Assassination trilogy on the Hitman 3 website, with players able to import all locations from the first two entries at no extra cost.
Despite this additional focus on carrying over progress from its predecessors, Hitman 3 will have a collection of brand-new maps and scenarios all its own. One such new location will be unveiled tomorrow, November 24, at 6:00 a.m. PT on the official Hitman YouTube account. A premiere slot for the video, titled "Under the Hood," is currently up for fans to set reminders to attend, but leaves the full breadth of what it's going to show under wraps.
The most fans are able to glean as of this writing is a thumbnail image with Agent 47 standing in front of neon signs displaying Chinese text. Some in the video's chat believe Hong Kong may be a likely option to join Hitman 3's roster, which already includes England, but the description only says the new location is "[REDACTED]." It also suggests players will get a better look at the studio's new Glacier engine, hence the video's title.
Fans will have to wait for tomorrow to get all the details, and it's likely there will be a lot of people interested in finding out more about the upcoming title. Earlier this month, IO Interactive announced the Hitman series has sold 70 million copies in its 20-year lifetime, making it a definite heavy-hitter franchise to launch a new entry in the early months of the latest console generation.
The series' success has also afforded IO Interactive the opportunity to dabble with other major projects. Last Thursday, it was announced that IO Interactive is working on a James Bond game tentatively called Project 007, one which will serve as "the very first James Bond origin story." Given its experience with assassination and spycraft up until now, this seems like a match made in heaven.
However, there are currently no planned announcements for Project 007 on the horizon. Those who are looking forward to that will have to make due with Hitman 3 in the meantime, and hopefully whatever is shown off tomorrow makes a good case for the game. Hitman 3 will prominently feature VR gameplay, and having a solid setting to show that off could do wonders going forward.
Hitman 3 will release January 20, 2021 for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
