PlayStation Clothing Collection Modeled by 21 Savage | Game Rant
From Lil Nas X featuring several PS5 units in the "Holiday" music video to Sony gifting T-Pain, many rappers have gotten involved with the PS5 one way or another. For 21 Savage, this meant modeling the SNIPES x PlayStation collection.
The collaboration between the German streetwear retailer and the Japanese conglomerate has culminated in a seventeen-piece unisex clothing collection. The pieces are adorned with various PlayStation symbols including the controller buttons.
An advertisement was posted by SNIPES onto his Instagram account. Set to 21 Savage's "Runnin," the ad sees a PS5-playing gamer transported into the game to play as the Atlanta rapper in several challenges, including basketball and racing.
This appearance by 21 Savage — real name Shéyaa Bin Abraham-Joseph — follows after Houston rapper Travis Scott became employed by Sony as a "strategic creative partner" which saw him in several ads for the PS5. Scott also launched his own clothing collaboration, including a new Nike SB Dunk Low colorway. The two rappers have collaborated before on several tracks.
21 Savage has had a considerable history with gaming. In 2019, he released the song "Immortal" which appeared in a trailer for Mortal Kombat 11. While the track contains the Atlanta rapper's usual violent lyrics, there are also multiple references to Mortal Kombat. In a 2018 interview with Seth Rogen, 21 Savage revealed his affinity for Tekken on the original PlayStation and Goldeneye on the Nintendo 64.
After a quiet 2019 that saw only "Immortal" be released, 21 Savage has been more productive in 2020. The rapper, alongside producer and longtime collaborator Metro Boomin, released Savage Mode II, a sequel to their 2016 collaborative EP Savage Mode.
