Super Smash Bros. Creator Masahiro Sakurai 'Very Satisfied' with PS5
Super Smash Bros. is a franchise that celebrates video games of all different kinds. It's a series that rarely ever shies away from characters or worlds, and no person is better suited for creating and directing Super Smash Bros. than Masahiro Sakurai. As a lover of video games himself, Sakurai is open to many different kinds of experiences, including those happening on the next console generation.
Some might not know this, but Sakurai himself is an avid video game player. In 2019, Sakurai reported that he had played over 240 PlayStation games over the course of the year. That is not only impressive but is also a testament to Sakurai's knowledge and understanding of how various different game mechanics and hardware work.
Another thing that some fans might not know about Sakurai is that he is a column writer for the popular Japanese magazine Famitsu. Sakurai typically writes about his own experiences and love of video games, often times recommending games to his readers. His most recent column details his thoughts on the PS5.
Somehow, Sakurai managed to receive a PS5 on launch day, as he had pre-ordered a unit at a Japanese retail chain. His thoughts on the console, saying he was "very satisfied," but he did note that he had to place the console behind his TV as he was worried about overheating issues that may arise if he were to place it on one of the shelves that house his various other systems.
Sakurai was pleased with the PS4 backward compatibility, given the number of games he played on the system. One of the things he was most surprised about was how fast the load times were. The load times of the PS5 are something that Sony has been showing off for quite a while now, so it's good to see that Sakurai approves of the system in that regard. Although, there were some criticisms that Sakurai had with the console.
Sakurai criticized the PS5's small storage space and the lack of a folder creation tool as irritating. The PS4 had a folder creation tool that Sakurai used to organize his digital games, but apparently, the PS5 is bereft of any sort of tool. Ultimately, Sakurai was satisfied with the console overall and hopes that it will be a system that people enjoy for a very long time. Just so long as there aren't any more system shortages.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available now exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
