Target Deal Offers Buy 2 Get 1 Free on Select PS5, Xbox Games
Black Friday is now less than two weeks away, and the deals in an around the shopping holiday continue to come out. Just yesterday, Walmart’s Black Friday ad was revealed online with great prices on Nintendo first-party exclusives like Fire Emblem: Three Houses, the brand-new Watch Dogs: Legion, and current sports games like Madden and NBA. But Target has a deal that has already begun that includes some games that it looks like no other retailer will.
Best Buy also revealed its Black Friday ad not too long ago, with similar deals to Walmart, but its ad also included some great games that Walmart missed, like PS4 exclusives Ghost of Tsushima, God of War, and Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition.
But neither retailer has deals for some of the games that Target does. Target is having a buy two get one free ad on dozens of major video games, most notably, several that have either just released or haven’t even released yet. This month’s biggest game releases like Watch Dogs: Legion, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Godfall, and upcoming titles like Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, and Cyberpunk 2077 are all included as part of this promotion.
Usually, the games that come out in the week or two surrounding Black Friday don’t get any deals for them, so as to not cut into launch window profits for the developer and publisher, so the fact that Target has included the above games is fairly unique. Most surprising is Cyberpunk 2077, which was supposed to release this coming Thursday but has now delayed to December 10. While three full-priced games at buy two get one free still only works out to only roughly 30% off per game, that is still rather rare for a pre-order of a game.
Note that this won’t necessarily be the best Black Friday deal if one buys certain games. Watch Dogs: Legion will be $30 at Walmart, and games like Marvel’s Avengers, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Star Wars: Squadrons and all of this year’s major sports games will be more than that roughly 30% off at Walmart and Best Buy. So while Target's buy two get one free ad makes sense for someone who wants Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War, Godfall, Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, Cyberpunk 2077 or a few others, the other retailers still have a better deal for those specific games.
