The Future Of Call of Duty Looks Bright | Game Rant
In a recent blog post, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War publisher Activision has unveiled its plans for the Call of Duty franchise. This post focuses on Call of Duty: Warzone, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and their relationship with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
Due to the massive popularity of Call of Duty: Warzone, the developers and publisher of the shooter franchise hope to keep it going through on-going support. With Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War set to launch on November 13, fans' attentions are likely focused on how it will integrate with the battle royale Warzone.
While there have been several discussions over Warzone's integration with Black Ops Cold War, the developer seems to be planning something larger. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare appears to be receiving additional support as all three titles learn to operate in conjunction with one another. From player progression to access for in-game armories, Call of Duty: Warzone will act as a binding agent for the communities of all three titles. There will be a period of adjustment, changes, and reworking as new features are added, but the entire concept is fairly innovative on Activision's part.
Player progression is expected to be linear throughout all three titles. As players continue to progress in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the Call of Duty: Warzone armory will continue to track progression. The same goes for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, as players wanting to level Black Ops Cold War weapons must do so in the appropriate game.
The battle pass will be synchronized across all games. Items can be unlocked for use in Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War but not Modern Warfare. While battle pass progression will still be available, all unlocked items are restricted to only the new game. Still, there is sure to be tons of new content available for fans to experience in Call of Duty: Warzone for free.
Players will be able to play Call of Duty across platforms and across titles on one invite network. Players wanting to invite their friends from Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War into Modern Warfare can do so without switching titles by simply navigating into the next game. All three development teams are working towards keeping content accessible with no plans for any major changes of Call of Duty: Warzone or removal of fan-favorite content.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is set to release on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
