World of Warcraft: Shadowlands - World First Level 60 Confirmed
With the release of World of Warcraft's newest expansion, Shadowlands, players from all over the world are scrambling to reach the new level cap. And while some players have managed to hit the max, it appears fans now know who got there first, and they managed to pull it off in an incredibly short amount of time.
The title of World First is going to World of Warcraft player Monkeylool on the EU server Al'akir, who managed to reach level 60 in about three hours after the expansion launched. The confirmation comes via Wowhead, which confirmed that the Monkeylool had earned the level 60 achievement, along with some help from a few of their guildmates. The group celebrated the achievement with an impromptu dance party, which Monkeylool's guildmate Rixers later shared.
The race to hit level cap is one that rolls around with every new expansion, though with the excitement headed into Shadowlands, this time did manage to feel just a bit more special. The last expansion, Battle For Azeroth, failed to capture the hearts of many players, which led to excitement waning towards the end of its arc. Shadowlands introduces interesting story and gameplay elements, though, which may do a better job of keeping fans engaged.
Another interesting aspect of the race to level max level this time around are the events that preceded it. Technically, level 60 isn't anything new in the confines of World of Warcraft. The previous cap allowed players to reach level 120, but there was a number squish leading up to Shadowlands that dropped things back down to 50, only to be raised to 60 when the expansion released. Leveling also only requires players to go through one expansion now, a major change from before, which required players to go through most of the content in the game.
Even with the changes, reaching the new cap so quickly is immensely impressive. Though, World of Warcraft power-levelers have a number of tricks up their sleeves that help with the process. Having a group of friends handy to make the process painless is just one of the best ones.
Hopefully, Shadowlands brings new surprises for players to enjoy. So far, it seems to be off to a good start, with the community rallying around some of the new - and some of the dark - elements contained within. The game's story has evolved for over a decade, so who knows where it could go next.
World of Warcraft is available now for PC.
