Apex Legends Releases Lore Video for Loba and Revenant
Season 5 introduced episodic storylines to Apex Legends, which have since become a staple for each new season of EA and Respawn Entertainments hit battle royale. However, a large thread from Season 5’s story regarding Loba’s quest for revenge against Revenant has gone unresolved, until today.
The story of Season 5, titled The Broken Ghost, centered around Loba trying to convince the other legends to help her assemble an artifact without telling them what it was for. The artifact turned out to be the head of Ash, a simulacrum (like Revenant) who was thought to be destroyed in Titanfall 2. It was later revealed that Hammond Robotics agreed to tell Loba where she could find Revenant’s source code, the original copy of his mind, in exchange for Ash. This was believed to be the only way to permanently kill him.
Loba began to feel conflicted once she learned that Revenant wanted her to find his source code and kill him, as Revenant desperately wants to die so he can be at peace. In a new piece of content released today on Twitter, Loba reveals to Revenant that she has obtained Revenant’s source code, but she will not give it to him or kill him. Instead, Loba tells Revenant that she sent it to the distant planet of Gridiron, which Loba feels puts him at her mercy. Revenant attacks her, but Loba wins the fight and walks away.
The content is in the form of an audio play, set to beautiful art from a member of the Apex Legends fan community, Fragment. Apex Legends began to collaborate with fan artists in 2020 to create additional canonical story content, which has garnered a great deal of positive reception within the Apex community.
It will be interesting to see where this story in Apex Legends will go next. Perhaps the next chapter of their conflict will come in Season 8, which should be coming early next year. In the meantime, it looks like the next story spotlight will be on Pathfinder, as he is set to star in his own Stories from the Outlands video that will be premiering on December 29.
The Stories from the Outlands video will be followed by a new set of skins and a town takeover as part of a “Fight Night” collection event. Pathfinder’s town takeover will be set on Olympus and feature a boxing ring. That content will likely be released in the first or second week of 2021.
Apex Legends is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Switch version in development.
