Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Details Season 1 Zombies Content
The first season of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War content is less than a week away from its release, and Treyarch has finally provided some details on the new content that Zombies players will be receiving. Aside from the battle pass weaponry and more challenges, the Zombies community of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will be getting some new playlists to enjoy.
As part of a thread expanding on The Game Awards trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Treyarch took a deep dive into the Zombies content that is set to arrive this season. While it seems like Zombies players will not be getting any new maps to play on until Season 2, there will still be quite a bit of new content to see in Season 1 — including the addition of two very intriguing Limited Time Modes.
The first LTM mentioned is “Jingle Hells,” a playlist that puts a holiday spin on the Die Maschine map. Snowmen will be littered around Poland, with the operator in the image donning a silly candy cane costume. Plaguehounds have been dressed up as reindeer, and while they are still hard to consider “cute,” the redesign is a nice touch. It will be interesting to see if Megatons are changed in the playlist as well, as there are plenty of festive forms for the mini boss to take.
The second LTM listed is “Cranked,” which will come as mid-season update. If this LTM is anything like the Cranked game mode seen in other Call of Duty games, players will be tasked with chaining together Zombies kills quickly — exploding if they take too long to do so. While it is unclear what the changes to the Zombies version of the mode will be, its addition should prove exciting for fans that have been playing the same content since launch.
Season 1 will also give Zombies fans access to daily challenges, a much-missed feature from previous Zombies modes. Season challenges will be available as well, and while it is unclear what the reward will be for completing them, the post does mention new calling cards. For fans of couch co-op, 2-player splitscreen will be added, and the PlayStation exclusive Zombies Onslaught mode will get 2 more maps and a holiday theme. The final addition mentioned is the Cruise Missile killstreak, which will likely function just like it does in multiplayer.
As mentioned previously, Zombies players will also receive all the Season 1 Battle Pass weapons for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. While some fans were likely hoping for a brand-new Zombies map, this drop of content should make the wait more bearable until it finally arrives.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
