Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Player Saved from Assassination in Hilarious Clip
One of the greatest humiliations in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is to be assassinated by a player. This humiliation tactic has a long history throughout the Call of Duty franchise, and most cases end with instant death. While it is worth the effort to disgrace another player, the animation can sometimes be the assassin's downfall, as this Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fan quickly found out.
Finishers, or assassinations, as the game's community calls them, are some of the most powerful and satisfying moves in the game. Their strength comes from the instant kill potential dispensed through an animation that lasts several seconds. While Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players often strive for the kill, those few seconds can often lead to further trouble.
In a clip posted by ResponsibleRanger to Reddit, the player is clearly seen playing in a hardcore match on the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War seasonal Nuketown variant. While creeping into the top floor of the blue house, he sprints to the window and prepares to snipe any unfortunate player in the opposite house. As he scopes in for a potential target, an enemy leaps from behind and attempts to assassinate him with a dagger. As the animation plays, it seems that his death is inevitable when suddenly an ally player triggers their finisher on the would-be assassin. As the two players stare at each other, ResponsibleRanger waves, then presents a thumbs up, which his new friend promptly returns.
If it was not for the swift action of his ally, ResponsibleRanger would have surely died. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans are happy that the opportunity to be saved exists as it offers a bride moment of hope within an inevitable death animation.
While it makes sense as a gameplay mechanic, fans in the comments do point out that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War finishers tend to be rather lethal. In the clip, players can clearly see ResponsibleRanger take a 20cm knife straight to the neck and be fine as the other player attacks. While it does break realism, it offers a rather entertaining possibility for teammates to rescue their friends.
Finishers will continue to be part of the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War experience. As players collect more finishers with every season, they will find new ways to humiliate their opponents on the battlefield.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
