Call of Duty Fans Build Real-Life Nuketown Airsoft Arena
With the addition of Nuketown to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, fans are remembering the many iterations of the map they have seen over the years. From a nuclear test site to a Russian redesign, Nuketown has taken several forms in the Black Ops franchise. While it makes for an entertaining Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War map, it makes for an even better airsoft and paintball experience.
Every time Call of Duty: Black Ops' Nuketown gets added to a new game, it becomes big news among the community. As one of the most recognizable and beloved maps, its tight-quarters combat has been a staple of the series for years. That is part of what inspired Paintball Explosion to open its very own Nuketown back in 2013, and it has only grown in popularity since then.
Based out of Chicago, the Airsoft and Paintball arena provider Paintball Explosion gives players a unique opportunity outside of the game. Call of Duty fans will instantly recognize the signature Yellow and Blue houses along with the central bus and van set up that has provided players cover game after game. As Nuketown 84 has been released, Call of Duty fans are once again flooding into the airsoft arena for a chance to relive their battles on an actual battlefield.
The internet is full of footage from Call of Duty airsoft players taking on the map over the years. As more players come to see Nuketown in real life, Paintball Explosion updates it with small details in an effort to make it as close as possible to the actual map. There are some minor differences, but the signature colors, routes, and rooms are all included in this unique recreation.
While each video shows a different tactic depending on the player, almost everyone agrees that the airsoft studio has done a great job recreating the Nuketown experience. While there are some obvious differences, fans can look past that and instead see the opportunity that such a map offers the game's community.
Recreating Call of Duty game modes, maps, and outfits is not uncommon among the community. Some say that mimicry is the highest form of flattery, and with the fans' attention to detail in every build, the sentiment is only reinforced. Players love to bring pieces of fiction into the real world, and this recreation of Nuketown is a perfect example of why they should continue their creative efforts.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
