Cyberpunk 2077: Should You Buy Mizutani Shion Coyote (And Where to Find It)

Cyberpunk 2077 offers players around 40 different vehicles to find and procure for V’s collection. With so many vehicle choices in Cyberpunk 2077, some players wonder if they should purchase the Mizutani Shion “Coyote,” or if there are better, more affordable options available to them.

While there is certainly an abundance of choice for players when it comes to personal transportation in Cyberpunk 2077, some options seem to be better suited for particular Lifepaths. The Coyote version of the Mizutani Shion is a great option for Nomads, especially, as its durability and handling make it well-suited for traversing The Badlands. However, with a hefty price tag of 115,000 eurodollars, it’s understandable that many players are weighing their options before making a commitment.

There are two ways for players to get V’s hands on a Coyote - thankfully, players won't have to devote themselves to trawling the bottom of Cyberpunk 2077's lakes. First, players can purchase the vehicle from Dakota “Mad Coyote” Smith, the appropriately nicknamed Badlands fixer who can be found at the Outskirts. To do this, players will need a Street Cred level of at least 20, in addition to the previously mentioned 115,000 eddies.

For players who are unwilling to part with their hard-earned money, the Coyote can also be procured during the side job, “With a Little Help From My Friends.” To go this route, players will need to select the dialogue option, “Don’t wanna get involved,” after Panam Palmer explains her plan for the job. Panam will walk away, disgusted with V’s choice, and the player can then walk over to Saul and complete the optional objective, “Tell Saul about Panam’s plan.” Saul informs the player to wait for a message from him.

After waiting a few in-game days, players will receive a phone call from Panam, cursing V for snitching her out to Saul. Not long after that, players will be contacted by Saul, who thanks V and sends them a picture of a gift - a red Mizutani Shion Coyote. Players must then proceed to the Sunset Motel, where their gift is waiting for them in the garage of a nearby gas station.

It should be noted, however, that selecting the latter route will sever all ties with Panam. This includes any jobs she may provide, as well as the potential relationship that players could have with Panam.

For players who are struggling with the decision to either part with their money, or part with Panam Palmer, it may be advisable to consider other options. The speed, handling and ruggedness of the Coyote make it a great option, both on the road and off, but it definitely comes with a sacrifice of one sort or another. Even for players with enough money, there are many other items in Cyberpunk 2077 that can be purchased to gain an advantage, so it's no small matter to consider.

More affordable options include the Javelina and the Cthulhu, both of which are versions of the Quadra Type-66. At 73,000 and 76,000 eddies, respectively, it won’t be as much of a sacrifice to part with the required cash. The Cthulhu, which can be obtained from the side job, "The Beast in Me," is a Rear-Wheel Drive vehicle, making it better suited for racing the streets of Night City than traversing the rough terrain of the Badlands. The Javelina is closer to matching the Coyote, being All-Wheel Drive and sporting a rugged design for cruising through the desert wastes, but while it has more horsepower than its Mizutani counterpart, it’s also heavier and has a lower maximum speed at 189 MPH, as opposed to the Coyote’s 199.

The best alternative, though, might just be the Rayfield Caliburn. This Hypercar-class coupe is faster and more powerful than the Coyote, while also being All-Wheel Drive. Better yet, while it costs 157,000 eurodollars and requires a Street Cred level of 40 to purchase, players may be able to find one in a shipping container in a cave in the Badlands, which they get to keep for free.

What vehicle a player is willing to fight or pay for comes down to personal preference, the chosen Lifepath for V, and the needs of the player. The Mizutani Shion Coyote is an excellent choice for barreling through the Badlands’ many obstacles, but the cost, Street Cred, or personal sacrifice required makes it a difficult decision. Players may have learn to let go of their cash, settle for an alternative, or just keep hustling to earn eurodollar they can find.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia and Xbox One, and will be available on PS5 and Xbox Series S/X in 2021.
