Cyberpunk 2077: Should You Reset the Core or Merge the Delamains in Don't Lose Your Mind
During the Don't Lose Your Mind side quest in Cyberpunk 2077, V will need to make a difficult decision that has three pathways and endings. Below is a result of each of those endings and how they can influence the overall ending to Cyberpunk 2077.
Some of the more disturbing side quests in Cyberpunk 2077 are the ones given by Delamain, Epistrophy, and Don't Lose Your Mind. In Epistrophy, V learns that some of Delamain's cabs have gone rogue after becoming sentient and starting to rebel against their creator. After hunting down all of the missing vehicles in each corner of Night City, V will later be summoned again by Delamain, who is still having trouble with its split personalities. Now, they're actively trying to destroy the main Delamain core.
While Delamain believes the issue is the result of some kind of virus, it seems that his clones want to be set free. Resetting the Delamain system would result in deleting the virus, if that's what's causing this problem, but would seemingly delete the clones completely. Johnny suggests to V that this could be destroying sentient beings. The clones, on the other hand, want to destroy the main Delamain core so they can finally be free.
Cyberpunk 2077 will give V the option to reset the core as Delamain wants, but Johnny, who compares this act to murdering a cab driver's kids, will suggest a third option: force the personalities to merge with Delamain. This leaves V with three options that result in three different endings to this Cyberpunk 2077 quest. All options result in V obtaining a free Delamain cab to keep.
Choosing this option requires V to have Level 10 Intelligence. Johnny will like this choice, which can help lead to the secret Cyberpunk 2077 ending, though not as much if V chooses to destroy the core. This option will force all personalities that V met while driving around in the Epistrophy quests to become one within Delamain.
The new Delamain will decide that it no longer wants to be in Night City and leaves, but leaves behind a new free vehicle for V: a taxi with a more personable, child-like version of the Delamain AI controlling it.
This is what Johnny wants V to choose, so he'll love this option. The option to destroy the core won't pop up as a prompt in yellow text. Rather, V will need to step back and destroy it using a weapon. Afterward, the different taxi cabs can be seen leaving the garage and will thank V for freeing them. Fortunately, the Delamain himself isn't quite dead. Johnny will point out the lone cab left in the garage and after investigating, it's the same Delamain Excelsior cab that escorted V and Jackie Welles during the heist.
Johnny will be upset with V if they choose to reset the core, so keep this in mind in regards to Cyberpunk's secret ending. This will permanently shut down all of the separate Delamain AIs. Delamain won't remember V but will thank them for their help in deleting the virus by giving them one of his cabs.
Cyberpunk 2077 is available on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One. It will release on PS5 and Xbox Series X in 2021.
