Fortnite: How to Complete All Season 5 Week 3 Challenges
Fortnite Season 5 is live, and players are hard at work trying to level up fast. To help with this, the game offers a new list of challenges each week that award extra experience points for their completion.
In addition to the start of the Operation Snowdown event, Week 3 brings eight challenges, which range from getting kills in specific ways to destroying a few toilets. A guide may be helpful for those Fortnite fans who may appreciate a little assistance.
This challenge is one of the easier ones, and may even be completed without the player giving too much thought to it. To ensure that this one is achieved quickly, players should ensure that they have one assault rifle and one submachine gun armed at all times. This way, even if the player has to switch weapons mid-firefight, they can be confident that the work they’re doing is counting towards the goal of 500 damage.
Though the challenge seems to imply that damage should be done to other players who are, at the time, wielding a pistol or sniper rifle, this is not the case. Instead, players need to inflict 200 total headshot damage on other players while using a pistol or sniper rifle - which is a skill that may come in handy when the portal to The Walking Dead is opened.
Similar to the previous challenge, this one will be completed more quickly if the player is carrying both weapons at all times. Unlike assault rifles and SMGs, however, the pistol and sniper rifle can vary widely in their tactical use. While armed with the sniper rifle, players should stay out of sight and line up their shots carefully; with pistols, the player will need to get in close - and may even benefit from rushing their target.
For perhaps the simplest challenge of Week 3, players will have to find and destroy three toilets. These can be found in most houses, so players should visit cities, find houses, and search through the rooms until they find the bathroom. Additionally, there’s an unnamed building, referred to as “Flush Factory,” southeast of Slurpy Swamp, in the southern region of the map. It contains enough toilets to complete the challenge in just one stop, so gamers can get back out there and tackle other challenges, or even a few of Fortnite's bounties.
The first thing that players may notice about this challenge is that these three locations are practically equidistant from each other, making traveling a chore - unless players find one of the locations where Fortnite's planes are spawned. The good news, however, is that the challenge counts chests from any of the three locations, meaning there’s a good chance players can find the four chests in one game, and without the need to travel far. Players should land in their chosen location and search through - and on - the buildings for the chests they need. A good option is Retail Row, as there’s a town in the mountains where four chests can be found in two buildings.
This challenge should be pretty simple to achieve, and players can even complete the other damage-based challenges on the list at the same time. If a player has a Rare SMG, for example, they may complete that challenge alongside this one. There are no tactics for accomplishing this task, however, so players may need to travel and keep looting until they get their hands on a weapon of Rare, or greater, quality. Once players have an appropriate weapon, like the Mandalorian Amban sniper rifle, they will need to get three kills with it to complete this task.
The simplest way to complete this task is for players to put themselves in danger. Once players have found a vehicle, they should travel to the center of the circle, stand up and out of the driver’s seat, and wait for people to come to them. As long as a player eliminates their enemies while standing or sitting in the vehicle, that player should get credit for this challenge.
Much like the other location-based challenge, this one allows players to choose one of the two locations and, as long as they can find seven boxes, they may not even have to travel to the other option. However, this challenge is different from the other in that players can easily access both Salty Towers and Colossal Coliseum from Season 5's best landing spot.
With these eight challenges completed, players will receive a significant boost toward their next Battle Pass level. Since it seems there won't be any in-person Fortnite events in 2021, there looks to be a lot of time for players to focus on leveling up.
Fortnite is available now for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
