Hunt: Showdown Update 1.4.8 Brings Watchtowers, Loot Changes, and New Weapons
Update 1.4.8 for Hunt: Showdown has arrived just in time for the holidays. The new update is on test servers alone for Hunt: Showdown on the PC for now, as players will be able to try out the changes before Crytek implements them into the full game.
Update 1.4.8 has quite a lot of quality of life changes, as well as new content overall. The first big change has to do with new looting options. Players can now find Hunter XP, Bloodline XP, Hunt Dollars, Blood Bonds, and Upgrade Points spread throughout the map in envelopes and small bags. Additionally, Hunters can find Trait Charms that will unlock a random trait and Blueprints, which will upgrade the currently equipped item. The additional looting options will make the game feel more like a traditional battle royale in some ways.
Some of the best aspects of Hunt: Showdown are the environmental storytelling and level design. Update 1.4.8 adds Watchtowers to the mix in various locations around the Bayou. These spots will have additional loot in them, and also provide strategic overlook locations; especially effective for Hunters who are accurate with long-range rifles.
The update also sees the addition of a couple of new weapon variants, including the Winfield M1873 Musket-Bayonet and the Nagant M1895 Officer Carbine Deadeye. Update 1.4.8 also adds melee changes, some trait reworks, and even a new option to outline items that can be interacted with, like doors, while in-game. The update is quite beefy, especially considering update 1.5 for Hunt: Showdown was postponed to 2021, and therefore some of the changes that were supposed to be in that update were squeezed into this patch. Hunt: Showdown players have a lot to look forward to in this update, as well as beyond.
Hunt: Showdown is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
