Pokémon Masters Announces 2020 Holiday Event, Characters
Pokémon Masters EX, a mobile game from The Pokémon Company and DeNA, announces its next event just in time for the holidays. The 2020 Holiday event features two new sync pairs and a story event.
Now in its second year, Pokémon Masters continues to add new content as one of the few main Pokémon mobile games. As a series-wide crossover game set on the artificial island of Pasio, players get the chance to play as different popular pairings of trainers and Pokémon. The mobile game finally brought in the Pokémon Sword and Shield generation by adding Gloria and Zacian as a sync pair. The mobile game has different limited-time events throughout the year featuring new or altered sync pairs for players to earn or buy.
Pokémon Masters is running its 2020 holiday story event starting December 9th, and while a specific ending date is not given, players can expect the event to last a couple of weeks. During this time, players will be able to experience a story aptly called “Deck the Halls,” and are tasked with decorating a tree and spreading holiday cheer. Much like the previous Halloween event, two new sync pairs will become available. Skyla and Erika are the focus this time around, and both are decked out in seasonal red and green outfits.
Skyla, the Flying-type Gym Leader from the Unova region and part of the Pokémon Masters League, makes a return. In this event, she is paired with a Togekiss instead of her normal Swanna. Skyla and Togekiss will have the special Flying-type sync move called Good Tidings Air Slash, which has increased power if the target is affected by a status condition. Erika, the Grass-type Gym Leader from the Kanto region and part of the Pokémon Masters League, also makes a return. This time, she is paired with Comfey instead of her usual partner Vileplume. Erika and Comfey can use the special Fairy-type sync move called Merry and Bright Dazzling Gleam.
Unfortunately, players will have to wait for the Seasonal Scout banners for both, but they will be coming soon. Until then, players can enjoy the themed-story and earn some free gems in celebration of Gloria’s launch in the game.
Pokémon fans have a lot to look forward to this December. There is the "Deck the Halls" event in Pokémon Masters, the December Community Day in Pokémon GO, and possibly even more information on Nintendo’s plans for the 25th anniversary of the series in 2021.
Pokémon fans might get some reveals at The Game Awards on December 10, but nothing is confirmed. However, with a special Pokémon GO event happening, it looks possible. While there might not be new information about Pokémon Masters specifically, fans can surely expect something special.
Pokémon Masters EX is available now on Android and iOS devices.
