PUBG Corp Merges With Krafton | Game Rant
PUBG Corporation has a new name after fully merging into Krafton Inc, which is responsible for games like Tera — an online MMO — and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. After being a subsidiary studio under Krafton, PUBG Corporation is now fully under the umbrella of Krafton, and its new name is PUBG Studio.
In a press release from earlier today, Krafton revealed the merge, and also announced that it consolidated two other mobile games studios into one. PNIX Inc., a studio known for casual mobile games such as Archery King and Bowling King; and Delusion Studio Inc., which worked on an RTS mobile game named Castle Burn, are now known as RisingWings.
For fans of PUBG, the move should be a good thing. Sometimes a merger or acquisition, like Microsoft buying Bethesda, can be a bit nerve-wracking. But by all indications, PUBG Corporation becoming PUBG Studio under Krafton means that the team can work autonomously to create its own unique vision on games, and specifically PUBG. The battle royale has been going strong, and continues to be a mainstay in the genre since it released in 2017.
According to the press release, PUBG Studio will continue to develop and support both PUBG and PUBG Mobile moving forward. The team has constantly added new content, like update 9.2 of PUBG which adds dirt bikes weapon balance. Even beyond the game itself, PUBG Studio will likely pursue ways to expand the IP of PUBG through avenues such as esports and the entertainment business, which may be more possible now that this merger has taken place.
PUBG is available on mobile, PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
