Rumor: Mortal Kombat 11 DLC Leak Reveals Deathstroke and More Characters
A rumored leak regarding Mortal Kombat 11 potentially reveals previously unannounced DLC. If the rumors are true, some characters who haven't been playable in over a decade may be coming to Mortal Kombat 11.
NetherRealm Studio's 11th iteration of its hyper-violent fighting game is the first to be on PS5 and Xbox Series X. Initially launching in March 2019, the game's latest update comes in the form of Mortal Kombat Ultimate, out now. Ultimate has been marketed has having the complete MK11 roster, so the potential addition of even more kombatants comes as a shock to many.
Several tweets from the Twitter account handle Ska'Vorah detail the leaked Mortal Kombat 11 information. Initially leaked to a Mortal Kombat subreddit, the new leak appears to stem from an internal email at NetherRealm Studios. In the email, gamers can read the developer's plans for a third Kombat Pack reveal trailer featuring four new fighters.
The kombatants in question are none other than Havik, Sareena, Smoke, and DC's Deathstroke. The messages go on to describe various fixes regarding different aspects of the previously mentioned characters. These include things such as lighting effects, fatality tweaks, and skin variant adjustments. In addition to that, the emails also include references to The Living Forest stage, Test Your Might tower, more Mortal Kombat movie skins and an Annihilation Sindel skin.
The Annihilation Sindel skin is actually fitting when considering the potential roster additions. Both Havik and Sareena haven't been playable in any game since 2006's Mortal Kombat: Annihilation. As for Smoke, the character last showed up in Rain's hilarious Queen-referencing fatality. Although he appears human in the fatality, its unclear what form the former Lin Kuei assassin-turned-cyborg will take. The inclusion of Deathstroke, while unexpected, makes sense given that NetherRealm also produces the Injustice series. There is also no evidence of any sort of timeframe regarding the rumored Kombat Pack 3's release window.
If this info turns out to be true, the Mortal Kombat community would likely go ballistic. MK fans have already been treated to a roster of 37, the franchises largest selection ever, and the supposed new Kombat Pack would boost those numbers even further. The DLC still doesn't include Halloween's Michael Myers, rumored since Kombat Pack 2 to be joining the game.
Mortal Kombat remains one of the most popular fighting games to this day, with a history stretching back several decades. Much like how other Mortal Kombat characters have changed over the years, it should be interesting to see how older characters like Havik and Sareena will (possibly) be updated for the current-gen.
Mortal Kombat 11 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
