The Best Xbox One Holiday Gifts of 2020 | Game Rant

2020 is a different kind of year, which still manages to feel like an understatement. Nonetheless, it is coming to an end, the holidays are here, and gaming is as prominent as ever. This means there's people out there shopping (online or many) for the holidays ahead, and whether that's for a child, for a teenager, or for one's self, it's still hard to pick the right gift. After all, with every type of headset out there, with the confusing naming convention of the Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, and more, it's easy to feel overloaded.

As such, here's a quick roundup of some of the best gaming gifts for Xbox One owners in 2020, including every from a few odds-and-ends of tech to the core gift(s) of the season: the video games themselves.

First and foremost, the best gift of the holiday season are new games. There's plenty of Xbox games out now that would make great gifts, although that would be dependent upon the person being shopped for. One almost universal recommendation may just be Cyberpunk 2077; as of this writing, the game has not released. But, it has topped "most anticipated" video game charts for quite some time. It releases December 10, so shoppers should pay attention to its general reception before picking it up (as with any game, there's no telling how it'll be initially received)

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is another major game for the year, launching alongside the new Xbox Series X to generally positive reviews, while Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is the franchise's 2020 entry. There's been some debates back and forth on it in the community, but a general CoD fan will likely be happy with it. With those in mind, here's a few other games that would make great gifts for Holiday 2020:

Sometimes, the look and feel of a controller matter just as much as what the controller can do. There are a ton of cool Xbox One color patterns out there for a variety of controllers, but for those who want to get something really special, Controller Chaos is one of the best places on the web for a completely custom controller. There's a ton of options, but even looking at the standard offering, Xbox fans can find controllers ranging from Spider-Man, The Punisher, and Rick & Morty to Chrome, YouTube, and Minecraft controllers.

Game Pass is often hailed as one of the most valuable services in the industry. For those unaware, Game Pass Ultimate is a bundle of Game Pass and Games with Gold, with the later being required to play games online. Game Pass, though, gives players a Netflix-level style of access to hundreds of games which are added to (and removed) constantly. An extension to this subscription is always welcome, which range from a month to 3-months.

As aforementioned, the best gift this year (as will be ever year) will be new games. Yet as the industry moves forward, file sizes tend to go up. The aforementioned Cyberpunk 2077's file size clocks in around 60 GBs on the Xbox, with a 45 day-one update coming as well. As such, making sure there's plenty of memory is always handy. There's always the option to delete a game and potentially re-download it later, but this has a lot of restrictions on rural players or those without the best internet options. As such, a good gift for a gamer short on their console's memory is an external hard drive:

For many gamers, there's nothing quite like turning on a console, putting on a gaming headset, and hearing the world around them go quiet. Players can hear the start up tones of their Xbox, can dive right into their games, and more; however, to do so requires a solid gaming headset compatible with Xbox One. It should be noted that *most* gaming headsets are compatible with every console, but for those looking for the best quality (and, as such, the best gifts), we recommend checking out one of the following headsets:

The above headphones is a good selection for just about any gamer and their interest, with it practically impossible to go wrong. Each deliver the quality all gamers expect when diving into an immersive single-player game or the frenetic combat of a multiplayer game.

Not only is the headgear important in any gamer's set up, the comfort factor is up there too. Gaming chairs are becoming more commonplace, whether that's gaming for 10 minutes or 10 hours, and it is the perfect present for someone who is complaining of discomfort while playing. There's a ton of options to go through, but the Secretlab 2020 series is likely to satisfy any and all. There's the Omega option for those below 6 ft., then the Titan and Titan XL for beyond that. Ultimately, in our review, we noted that the Secretlab 2020 Series Titan "combines high-quality material and a robust feature set to meet the needs of any gamer."

Obviously, upgrading from the Xbox One to an Xbox Series X is a costly investment, and that's if it's even possible to get hands on one. Black Friday was probably the last "easy" date to predict or attempt to get an Xbox Series X. However, there's likely to be semi-frequent restocks throughout the month leading up to the holidays, as well as into 2021 if need be. Ultimately, one of the best presents for Xbox One gamers this fall may just be an upgrade to the Xbox Series X, as it is compatible with everything on the Xbox One, and it's a big leap in terms of load times, quick resume, and more. It may be the best gift, but it's also the hardest to find.

An Xbox Series X can be purchased from all major retailers, should they have any stock. Most of these sales are online.
