World of Warcraft Classic Releases Naxxramas Raid | Game Rant
World of Warcraft is making the most of the release of its latest expansion, Shadowlands. Blizzard claimed Shadowlands had the most pre-orders of any World of Warcraft expansion to date. Some would say that the success of World of Warcraft Classic contributed to anticipation for the new expansion, as the two versions of the MMO have a complementary relationship. Now, a major update featuring the Naxxramas raid is available on World of Warcraft Classic.
Many World of Warcraft players may recognize Naxxramas as a 10 and 25-player raid for World of Warcraft introduced in the MMO's Wrath of the Lich King expansion. However, Blizzard originally released a 40-player version of the raid as part of World of Warcraft's vanilla release. It's a level-60 raid featuring an impressive 15 bosses for World of Warcraft Classic players to take on. It's also considered one of the most difficult raids prior to the release of the Burning Crusade expansion, so players should be well-geared.
Naxxramas features four different "wings" for players to fight through. The Abomination Wing is filled with nightmarish undead experiments, including the familiar Patchwerk. The Deathknight Wing is Naxxramas' military quarter, filled with soldiers preparing for the Lich King's war against life to begin. The Plague Wing is self-explanatory, filled with concoctions of death and weapons efficient in dealing death. Lastly, there's the Spider Wing, home to giant spiders like Maexxna as well as their nerubian allies.
Players can earn a variety of legendary gear befitting a raid as huge and challenging as Naxxramas. Blizzard has confirmed that the full range of Tier 3 armor sets will be available for players to earn in Naxxramas. Iconic sets like the Warrior Dreadnaught's Battlegear and the Priest Vestments of Faith are confirmed. Weapons like the Corrupted Ashbringer will be included, too.
Preceding the release of Naxxramas came the start of the Scourge Invasion. The Scourge can be found in several key areas, all major cities, as well as specific dungeons. There's also new quests to be picked up at Light's Hope Chapel. This is a limited-time event, available for just four weeks in World of Warcraft Classic. It will disappear with the new year, ending December 31.
The Naxxramas release makes up the last phase of the planned World of Warcraft Classic content drops. Patch 1.13.6 arrived a few days ago, and Naxxramas and the Scourge Invasion are available now. It might be worth looking toward BlizzCon 2021, which will be hosted next February, for news on when players can expect World of Warcraft Classic's Burning Crusade to start.
World of Warcraft Classic is available now on PC.
