World of Warcraft: Shadowlands - How to Get Eternal Crystals for Anima

Since its November release, World of Warcraft: Shadowlands has breathed new life into the MMORPG by giving the community a variety of PvE and PvP experiences once they reach Level 60. While some players can dive straight in, others are opting to first work on professions like fishing that give gear and stat boosts to more easily clear content. However, some professions have proven very costly to max out, such as enchanting.

Enchanting has always been defined by the need to destroy uncommon or higher quality items to extract reagents. This continues in Shadowlands with the purple Eternal Crystal only coming from disenchanted epic gear. With Mythic dungeons and Castle Nathria drops being the only reliable source of epics, it was nearly impossible for many new enchanters to get enough Eternal Crystals without spending massive amounts of gold on the Auction House. However, with the weekly reset, there's currently a way to get disenchantable epics for a small amount of anima.

Before players can purchase the epics, they need to complete this week's covenant campaign and get to the current Renown cap of 18. Everyone caught up to last week should be at Renown 15, so they must rescue souls from the Maw and collect 1000 anima before the questline unlocks. While getting the anima may take a while, there should be several world quests that offer 250 anima as a reward, including this week's World Boss Valinor.

During this week's storyline, players will get an ilvl 184 armor piece from one of the final quests. Most characters will already have better gear in that slot, so it can be disenchanted for an Eternal Crystal. However, finishing the questline and getting to Renown 18 unlocks the same item for purchase in each covenant.

Afterwards, the epic item will be available from the same vendor that sells Covenant armor appearances. Each piece only costs 100 anima, so players can get lots of Eternal Crystals through disenchanting the copies. Note that the specific NPC depends on Covenant.

  • Kyrian - Forgelite Neptira
  • Necrolords - Slayer Araya
  • Night Fae - Mar'lan
  • Venthyr - Gregor the Pallidblade

Even if players don't want to be enchanters, briefly picking up the profession to get Eternal Crystals and selling them on the Auction House is a quick way to make several thousand gold per piece. While this method has only been in World of Warcraft for a day as of this writing, there's a chance Blizzard will hotfix the gear to not be disenchantable, so anyone interested should act quickly.
