World of Warcraft: Shadowlands - Complexity Limit Guild Gets World First in Mythic Castle Nathria Raid
For many World of Warcraft players, a new raid tier means eyes are on the race to do a full clear at Mythic difficulty. With the positive reception to Shadowlands so far, many more groups than usual were vying for the title of World First within Castle Nathria. But among the competitive scene, several older guilds pulled ahead and one returning name has finally taken down the last Mythic boss 9 days after release.
Though many raid tiers were dominated by EU guilds, the previous race shocked the entire world when US guild Complexity Limit took down N'Zoth in Ny'alotha first. As the returning champions, Limit had a massive reputation to live up especially as the race narrowed down to them and Echo from EU. But in the end, Limit has claimed the Mythic World First clear by successfully defeating Sire Denathrius.
Players who have already progressed through Normal and Heroic difficulties should recognize most of the Sire Denathrius fight in Limit's attempts. During Phase 3, however, there is an added mechanic that forces the raid to split up between the main room and a mirror realm while dealing with the boss on both sides. It was this Mythic-only phase that held Limit off for over 140 attempts as the raid barely couldn't finish Denathrius off before the hard enrage wiped everyone.
But in the wake of several near kills including a 1.9 and 0.9-percent this morning, Limit finally triumphed over Mythic Denathrius during the early afternoon. As raid leader Max led on, Limit managed to claim victory moments before the enrage timer followed by their cheers and celebration as tens of thousands of Twitch viewers watched. Note there is some adult language in the clip, which can be viewed here on Twitch.
Although Limit claiming World First in Castle Nathria shouldn't come as a surprise, the composition of their raid group defies some expectations from tier lists for each role. Specifically, both a Protection and Arms Warrior were part of the kill despite being labeled as much weaker than they were in Battle for Azeroth. Even at the highest level of play, every class can play its part to mitigate certain boss mechanics or provide the necessary buffs to beat strict enrage timers.
With the current World First race now over, many prominent figures in the World of Warcraft community are congratulating Limit and even taking notes for strategies to use in their own Mythic clears. Echo has conceded as well, but promises to be back for another round of competition in the next raid tier. Until then, there's still plenty of other things to do in Shadowlands such as clear Mythic+ dungeons and PvP during Season 1.
World of Warcraft: Shadowlands is available now on PC.
