Animal Crossing New Horizons: How to Get Clay | Game Rant
As the newest installment in the series, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has created plenty of new staples for fans to enjoy. With the one year anniversary coming up soon, the developers still have a lot of big updates for Animal Crossing: New Horizons in the works for players.
As the Animal Crossing series constantly evolves, some of the new changes have not only involved gameplay changes, but new materials for gamers to experiment with when creating items. Clay, one of these original materials in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, allows players to craft new types of furniture and fences.
The way to get clay might be confusing and possibly tedious to some gamers, and there will be some hustling involved. However, this kind of grind is most likely expected for experienced Animal Crossing players. So, for fans who want to let their imagination fly with the material, here is how they can get some extra clay.
The best place to get the most clay is from rocks on the Mystery Island Tours in Animal Crossing. On the gamer's home island, they can only get clay materials from rocks daily, but Mystery Island Tours allows for new materials each time the player goes, so the drop rate is higher. Just make sure to save up on Nook Miles tickets to get as many materials as possible.
There are three different types of rocks on these islands instead of the two on the player's island, further increasing their odds. If gamers bring a shovel or an axe and use it against the rocks, the clay can potentially drop beside the player. A big tip for gamers is to dig holes behind them when they hit the rock, so they aren't flown back too far. This way, they will be able to gather as many materials from rocks as they can. Fans can then use the clay to craft DIY items in Animal Crossing, such as a brick oven, a cherry blossom bonsai, a brick fence, and even an ocarina.
The only other option for players is to find clay in Balloon Presents, but it will be a much lower drop rate for clay. If gamers are not interested in crafting with clay, they could always sell it. Clay can stack up to 30 pieces and sells for 100 bells a pop. Either way, this can hopefully help players grind for clay at a much faster rate.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
