Apex Legends Season 8 Leak Reveals Anniversary Event | Game Rant
Apex Legends is a gift that keeps on giving to its fans. The Fight Night Collection Event for Apex Legends kicked off yesterday, and with it came some META changes, new items to unlock, a new limited-time game mode, and more. But some players are already looking to next season of Apex Legends, and specifically even the next collection event.
Season 8 of Apex Legends will add some requested features, and it begins in only a few weeks. In looking into what may be right around the corner for players of the battle royale, one dataminer (@Shrugtal on Twitter) found that the next collection event could have a substantial new change. Instead of a brand new Heirloom, this time the game may simply hand players 15o Heirloom Shards, allowing them to select whatever Heirloom they want.
Usually, each new collection event introduces a brand new Heirloom. In the case of the Fight Night Collection Event, Gibraltar's Heirloom in Apex Legends is what was just unveiled. Unlocking the item is not so simple, however. To get the extremely rare item, players must purchase every item from the limited-time collection event. The total comes out to around $160 USD.
That means that the gentle giant's battle club is not all that cheap. In the case of season 8 (if the dataminer is correct) the end result of the same general $160 USD payout would result in 150 Heirloom Shards--instead of a fresh new developer designed Heirloom--which means that players can select any of the previous Heirlooms, like Octane's butterfly knife Heirloom.
According to Shrugtal, the event is called the Anniversary Collection Event, which is why there is no new Heirloom and why Respawn Entertainment would allow players to choose from any of the old Heirlooms with the 150 shards. It also makes sense because it would align, generally, with the two-year anniversary of the surprise launch of Apex Legends. Although there were small whispers of a Titanfall battle royale the weeks leading up to the reveal, the game came out of nowhere and was ready to play the day it was announced, which is very much unprecedented.
It appears that all of the skins that can be unlocked and purchased during the Anniversary Collection Event will be recolors of some of the favorites. This includes things like the Bone Saw Legendary Spitfire camo and Lifeline's From the Ashes skin, which was the Season 3 battle pass in Apex Legends.
Bangalore is also getting a recolor as the Outlands Warrior. It will be interesting to see the reaction from fans on an Anniversary Collection Event for Apex Legends, if this is true. Bringing back old skins for a premium could ruffle some feathers, but some of the old skins do deserve a second chance. Also, the Heirloom Shards are extremely rare to find in a standard Apex Pack (1 in 500 chance) so for some, it may be worth it to shell out the cash. Still, there are grumblings online about the massive price tag behind each of the collection events and the price of purchasing an Heirloom during the limited events.
Apex Legends is free-to-play on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Switch version in development.
