Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Reveals Firebase Z Wonder Weapon Name And Details Via Blueprint Teaser
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies fans have plenty of reasons to be excited, as it looks like Firebase Z will deliver on the hype. Like the other Zombies maps released by Treyarch over the years, players can expect to see a new Wonder Weapon in the next Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies map.
As shown in the Firebase Z gameplay trailer released yesterday, players will be wielding an Assault Rifle-like Wonder Weapon in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. While weapons like the Scavenger sniper rifle from Call of the Dead and Blunergat shotgun from Mob of the Dead have shown Treyarch’s ability to evolve standard weapon types into Wonder Weapons, this is the developer’s first attempt at an Assault Rifle wonder weapon.
While the Firebase Z trailer only offers a brief glimpse at the special gun in action, players get an idea as to how the gun will function. After shooting out a large ball of purple energy, the player switches to a more traditional firing mode. Upon firing in the direction of the energy ball, the grenade-like item seems to detonate, decimating the Zombies in the surrounding area. While the weapon’s firing style is reminiscent of the Ray Gun Mark 3 seen in the Gorod Krovi map, it will be interesting to see how it compares.
However, Treyarch gave players a bit more information on this Firebase Z weapon addition today, assuring fans that the returning Tombstone perk will not be the only tool to help in the fight against the undead. According to the Blueprint image shared on the official Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Twitter, the weapon is called the “Reactorniy Avtomat-Izluchaetal Kuhlklay-84,” with the first bit of Russian text translating to “Reactor Automaton-Radiating”. However, most fans will likely go by the weapons abbreviated name, the R.A.I. K-84.
Apart from the weapon’s abbreviated name, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players are given info on the R.A.I. K-84’s creation. The weapon requires an “Energy Converter” and a chargeable power cell for its magazines, which seem to imply that the gun is firing pure energy from the Dark Aether. A blacked-out bit of text is concluded with a signature from Dr. Peck, suggesting that the new Firebase Z character is responsible for the powerful-looking gun’s creation.
With Firebase Z and Zombies Onslaught getting a new mini-boss, and the trailer teasing a clash with the massive Elder God from Die Maschine, players will need to make good use of the R.A.I. K-84. With the weapon’s upgrades and ammo count still unknown, though, players will have to wait until Firebase Z’s arrival on February 4 to determine just how good it really is.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
