Fan Art Imagines Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury With Yoshi's Island Art Style
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury is set to launch next month, serving as the first major Nintendo Switch exclusive game of 2021. While the bulk of the game will be the Super Mario 3D World re-release, the game is coming with expanded content in the form of Bowser's Fury, which has generated significant hype online and has inspired a ton of creative fan art in the process.
One of the most impressive pieces of fan art for Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury comes from G-Brothers, or G-Bro on Twitter, who creates pixel art. Taking inspiration from the art style of the classic Super Nintendo game Yoshi's Island, G-Bro has imagined what the Bowser's Fury expansion would look like on a retro console. The art depicts one of the more unsettling scenes from the game, similar to the one seen on the revamped Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury box art.
The scene in question shows Mario standing side-by-side by longtime enemy Bowser Jr. as the two stare down the massive Fury Bowser. A storm rages in the background while Bowser Jr. and Mario prepare to face off against Fury Bowser, setting the tone for what is sure to be an intense fight in the game proper.
Fury Bowser has turned plenty of heads since his reveal in Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, with many fans impressed by the Koopa King's intimidating new look. But while Fury Bowser is sure to put up a serious fight, Mario won't have to fight him alone. Players will be joined by Bowser Jr. during the course of the Bowser's Fury expansion, plus Mario will have access to an important new power-up that should help him even the odds.
The main goal of the Bowser's Fury expansion in Super Mario 3D World is for Mario to collect enough Cat Shines. Doing so will not only open up areas that are shrouded in darkness, but will eventually allow Mario to transform into Giga Cat Mario. Giga Cat Mario is a massive new form that Mario can take in Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury that has a design seemingly inspired by Dragon Ball Z's Super Saiyans.
Whether or not Giga Cat Mario will be enough to defeat this superpowered version of Bowser remains to be seen. But Super Mario fans will find out once the Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury release date rolls around next month.
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury launches February 12, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
