Grand Theft Auto Online NPC Valet Hilariously Snaps During Heist
Despite how long they have been on the market, Grand Theft Auto 5 and its multiplayer component GTA Online remain relevant thanks to Rockstar Games' large-scale updates and the occasional viral meme. GTA Online recently added the Cayo Perico Heist, expanding the in-game world by offering players a whole new island to explore, find sunken treasure, and heist valuables. However, many are still taking on older heists, and one player recently found the AI of non-playable characters can lead to some interesting results.
Reddit user Ecahill453 posted a video to the r/gtaonline subreddit Sunday that depicts a seemingly innocuous scene gone wrong. It begins with them flipping off a valet from their bus parked at the main entrance to The Diamond Casino & Resort. This appears to agitate the NPC, who barges into the bus, kicks Ecahill453 in the face, and then throws them out onto the carpeted walkway before driving away.
The GTA Online player laments the loss of their prized bus multiple times in the post's title and comments, telling Reddit user kreilly027 it was "my pride and joy." After a long, contemplative moment watching the valet drive off, the player opens their menu and commits suicide. They said that reaction wasn't originally planned, but seemed like a proper conclusion after deciding they wanted to upload the clip.
While heists make up a decent amount of the content players can tackle in GTA Online, both in Los Santos and on Cayo Perico, Rockstar Games has been releasing additional things for players to enjoy. One update last month added new radio stations and DJ missions to GTA Online, coinciding with the opening of a nightclub venue called The Music Locker underneath The Diamond Resort & Casino.
However, these updates have led to potential problems for fans of the ever-evolving title. A modding exploit in GTA Online discovered shortly after the release of the Cayo Perico Heist has potentially put players' personal information at risk, and as of this writing it's unclear whether Rockstar Games has addressed the concern.
Even so, players like Ecahill453 continue to enjoy the experience, in spite of - or perhaps because of - notable NPC interactions. Recent additions have seemingly breathed new life into GTA Online, and Rockstar said it wants to add more solo content like the Cayo Perico Heist going forward. Time will tell whether fans can also expect to see a GTA 6 release somewhere on the horizon.
GTA Online is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with versions for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in development.
