Hawkmoon is Becoming Destiny 2's Newest Celebrity | Game Rant
Destiny 2 has been adding more content to the game, and the current season continues to feature the Exotic hand cannon Hawkmon, which is becoming Destiny 2's biggest celebrity. The Exotic hand cannon was reintroduced to the game in Destiny 2's Season of the Hun, specifically in two missions with the player and their ally Crow defending it from being the Hive witch-queen Savathun. A new mission added to the game shows how important Hawkmoon is to the world of Destiny.
A new trailer for Destiny 2 shows a new mission called Harbinger, centered on using Hawkmoon and upgrading it. The trailer itself shows a similar routine to the previous Hawkmoon missions in the game. The guardian and Crow are on a mission to fight the Taken, and this time the exotic weapon is front and center in the video. Details of the quest also revealed how to upgrade the Hawkmoon catalyst as well.
The new Exotic quest picks up where the original Hawkmoon quest left off, with the guardian and Crow following the mysterious Hawk of the Traveler in the European Dead Zone, all while fighting Taken enemies. To unlock the Hawkmoon catalyst and upgrade it to a Masterwork, players will need to eliminate 700 enemies with the exotic hand cannon. Doing so will unlock the weapon's ability to generate orbs during multi-kills that keep count of how many enemies the player defeated with the Hawkmoon.
Accomplishing this feat in the season's new Exotic quest will reward players with a fair number of bonuses for Hawkmoon. Unlocking Masterwork will provide the weapon with increased magazine size, handling, reload speed, and weapon range depending on the number of stacks of Paracusal Charges a player has. Of course, doing so is easier said than done, as players will need to face many enemies, but the rewards are worth it — and a way for Bungie to keep Hawkmoon relevant.
As a bonus, the trailer teases that the Exotic mission will also explore the secret areas in the EDZ that eagle-eyed Destiny players found during the last Hawkmoon missions. The first location is a secret tunnel in Trostland that leads to a locked door in The Reservoir, and the second is a sealed gate closed by the Taken that leads to a clean and refurbished ship. The trailer shows both in that order while ending with Crow and the guardian's Ghost briefly talking about the ship.
With the new exotic quest, players will be able to upgrade the Hawkmoon weapon, go on another mission with Crow, and unlock more secrets in the EDZ in Destiny 2.
Destiny 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
