Limited PS5 Stock Available Tomorrow | Game Rant
The limited stock of Sony's new PS5 console has made it fairly hard for players looking to get their hands on next-gen titles and hardware since the system launched. However, fans may have a chance at a limited stock of PS5s on January 15 through a lesser-known system that Sony uses to reward players for previous purchases.
This opportunity comes courtesy of the Sony Rewards program, which ordinarily gives players points for every purchase they make using a connected account through the PlayStation Store. Members of the reward program may even be eligible for a discount if they've made enough purchases before picking up the PS5 when it becomes available.
To pick up the system, customers will need to visit the Sony Rewards storefront at the proper time to gain access when the console is available for sale. While the availability date has been announced, the exact timeframe still isn't quite known, as the Sony Rewards account is keeping that information close to the chest until the sale goes live. Fans will have to act quickly to secure a console when the PS5 restock happens, as it is likely to attract the attention of the thousands of others still looking to purchase the system.
Some viewers are concerned that they may not have the necessary points to make the purchase, however the Sony Rewards website does also take equal money payments to exchange for points. So, there might be an extra step in the checkout process, but purchasing a PS5 through Sony Rewards otherwise works the same as any other storefront. Additionally, any points that players have already earned, at a rate of about one point per $1 spent, goes toward most purchases on the store. It isn't confirmed if this will be the case for the PS5 console.
Considering recent rumors suggest Sony is shipping millions of PS5s, this could be the first of many more launches on the Sony Rewards storefront. It isn't exactly clear why these systems aren't being shipped through retailers or the Sony Direct storefront, though it may have more to do with trying to keep the availability spread out so the console can reach as many customers as possible. Regardless, Sony Rewards will be something fans should look out for if they are interested in getting their hands on a system tomorrow, January 15, and as future restocks continue to roll out.
The PS5 is available now at most retailers, while supplies last.
