Pokemon GO: How to Evolve Combee into Vespiquen | Game Rant
The Sinnoh Celebration Event will be starting soon for Pokemon GO players. It will begin in players' local times on January 12, 2021 at 10:00 a.m., and will bring along increased spawn rates of certain Pokemon, as well as special field research tasks.
With the focus of this event being Pokemon from the Sinnoh region, many Pokemon GO users will come across Combee. This dual Bug and Flying-type Pokemon takes the appearance of a living piece of honeycomb crossed with a bee.
Combee itself isn't a very strong Pokemon, but it does have a much stronger evolution in Vespiquen. However, players that own a Combee may notice that there might not be any evolution option for their Pokemon. This can cause trouble for those who want Vespiquen in their parties.
When catching a Combee, players may notice that some Combee have an orange marking on the top part of Combee's bottom face. These are a bit rarer than unmarked Combee, and that is because the unmarked Combee are male and the marked Combee are female. Players can also check their Pokemon's gender in the menus after catching them.
What makes this important is that only female Combee are able to evolve into Vespiquen, with male Combee unable to evolve at all. This means that male Combee are really only useful for getting more Combee candy or for collection purposes due to their lack of strong abilities in battle.
Female Combee can evolve into Vespiquen by using 50 Combee Candies. With the spawn rates of Combee increasing for the Sinnoh Celebration Event, that is the perfect time to raise enough candy for the evolution. Players can also use rare candies to make the process go faster.
Vespiquen is also a dual Bug and Flying-type Pokemon. It is weak to Rock, Fire, Flying, Ice, and Electric-type moves. However, it also resists Bug, Fighting, Grass, and Ground-type moves. When using Vespiquen in battle, its best moveset has it knowing Bug Bite for its fast move and Bug Buzz for its charge move.
Those looking for shiny Combee or shiny Vespiquen will need to wait some time, as neither Pokemon will be getting their shiny forms by the time the Sinnoh Celebration Event rolls around. However, with female Combee already being more difficult to find over male Combee, finding a shiny female Combee to evolve into a shiny Vespiquen will be an incredibly difficult task itself once that becomes available.
Pokemon GO is available now on Android and iOS devices.
