PS5 Exclusive Destruction AllStars Gets Release Date | Game Rant
Lucid Games' car crunching multiplayer title Destruction AllStars has finally been given a release date after it was announced during the PS5 reveal on June, 2020. Previous trailers have shown off Destruction AllStars' characters and given players an idea for when it might be releasing this year, but the latest PS Plus reveal has given fans a more concrete date.
The destruction derby gameplay that has been shown off for Destruction AllStars so far has been presented as an over-the-top multiplayer mashup of carnage, crashing cars and drivers into the arena. Handing it out for free to PS Plus owners should get the player community ready to dive into the game the second it becomes available.
Sony announced today that Destruction AllStars will be releasing on PS Plus as one of the free games for PS5 when the titles rotate on February 2, 2021. Interestingly, this marks the second title to release on PS Plus for the PS5, with the previous game to take this tactic being Bugsnax, which released for free to members alongside the console. With the console being so new, it would make sense that the pool of exclusive games to pull from might not exactly be large enough to start grabbing older titles from its limited library.
In addition to launching on PS Plus in February, Destruction AllStars will remain available to PS Plus members through April, giving gamers a two-month window to pick-up and play. This might be for the best as players continue to struggle to get their hands on PS5 consoles in order to even try out the exclusive titles for themselves. However, for any fans looking at a deeper look into Destruction AllStars' mechanics and characters, a surprise PlayStation State of Play has taken a deep dive to show off the flashy new title.
A multiplayer title like Destruction AllStars, with customization built into microtransactions, couldn't really hope for a better way to kickstart its player community. Offering the game for free up front, especially for a limited time, can get players to jump on right out the gate similar to how Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout took a strong lead in August by releasing for PS Plus. These new release strategies for Destruction AllStars and other PS5 exclusives could be the start of a whole new way that games try to get themselves out in front of players.
Destruction AllStars is set to release February 2, 2021 for PS5.
