Resident Evil 8: Everything We Know About the Vampire Lady
Today is a big day for fans of the Resident Evil franchise, now that Capcom has given a clearer picture of what fans can expect from Resident Evil 8. In the showcase, the studio announced Resident Evil 8's release date, which falls on May 7, 2021, and the inclusion of the PS4 and Xbox One as its platforms alongside the PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
In previous trailers of Resident Evil 8, Capcom revealed a mysterious tall lady who appears to be a vampire. While many hoped to learn more about her in the reveal, Capcom's recent showcase did not delve into her story and her role in the grand scheme of things. Nonetheless, it appears that this mysterious lady is already a hit among fans, and here is everything we know about her so far and what her role could be in Resident Evil 8.
Although specific details about the Vampire Lady remain a mystery, she was heavily featured in Resident Evil 8's latest trailer and gameplay preview, suggesting that the character would play an important role in the upcoming game. Throughout the game's preview, the Vampire Lady expresses her thirst for blood, which is the primary reason why many believe that she is a vampire. However, the bigger question now is whether she is a supernatural creature or a product of a new bio-organic experiment.
It is worth noting that while the Resident Evil franchise has featured zombies, tyrants, and other terrifying monsters, all of them were created by a virus, parasite, or some other biological material. The Vampire Lady is likely a new bioweapon despite having attributes that are mostly linked to supernatural creatures, similar to Eveline in Resident Evil 7. However, it wouldn't be surprising if the game were to feature new enemy types that are not usually associated with the series.
One important thing that the latest Resident Evil 8 trailer teased about the Vampire Lady is her involvement in the game's overall story. In the new preview, the Vampire Lady is seen speaking via phone to a mysterious character named Mother Miranda, discussing the importance of "the ceremony," which will probably involve Ethan Winters and his kidnapped daughter. Interestingly enough, the Vampire Lady also told Mother Miranda that Ethan is becoming too much for her and her daughters to handle, suggesting that they are part of a vampire coven residing in the castle where parts of the game are set.
Although there are still many things players do not know about the Vampire Lady, some are already throwing in speculation on her role in the game. One popular theory is that the Vampire Lady could be Resident Evil 8's version of RE2's Mr. X. To the uninitiated, Mr. X is the tyrant sent by the Umbrella Corporation to hunt down the remaining survivors in Raccoon City. In the 2019 remake of the game, Capcom overhauled Mr. X by designing him to constantly stalk players around the police station. Now, some players believe that the Vampire Lady will play a similar role in Resident Evil 8. However, instead of a lifeless robotic tyrant, they will face a more menacing enemy that could use psychological warfare instead of brute force to terrify players.
Luckily for fans, they won't have to wait for too long to unveil the mystery behind the Vampire Lady now that Resident Evil 8 is scheduled to release in a few months. It is still unknown whether the Vampire Lady will be featured in Resident Evil 8's playable demo that is available now for the PS5. However, having the Vampire Lady appear in the demo is not unlikely given that Capcom has previously featured major bosses in its demos before, such as in Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil 3 Remake.
Resident Evil 8 is set to release on May 7, 2021, for the PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
