The popular Re:ZERO franchise released Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- The Prophecy of the Throne today, marking the first time the series has shipped a major video game to markets outside of Japan. It features a 3D turn-based battle system, another first for the long-running light novel and anime franchise.
Supervised by series author Tappei Nagatsuki, Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- The Prophecy of the Throne features a brand new storyline with characters designed by Japanese artist and long-time collaborator Shinichirou Otsuka. This story surrounds a political conspiracy amid multiple claims to the throne of the Kingdom of Lugnica. As factions clash to discover an imposter among them, Subaru and his friends are called to unravel the mystery.
Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- The Prophecy of the Throne is the franchise’s first tactical turn-based adventure title. The combat features a 3D turn-based battle system, similar to the Valkyria Chronicles series. The story progresses through conversations and cutscenes that fall more in line with Re:Zero’s visual novel roots.
Japanese publisher Spike Chunsoft helped bring Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- The Prophecy of the Throne to international markets. The company is well-known for publishing a variety of popular Japanese titles, including Steins;Gate, Zero Escape, and the popular Danganronpa visual novel series.
Fans looking forward to experiencing the latest entry in Re:Zero saga can pick up the physical Day One Edition of Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- The Prophecy of the Throne that come with four pins in a display box. There is a Collector’s Edition available that includes the aforementioned pins, as well as a steelbook case, full-color art book, and the game’s original soundtrack.
