Rumor: Apex Legends Switch Release Date Leaked | Game Rant
Some big Apex Legends news may finally be around the corner. The Switch version of Apex Legends is currently in development, and owners of the hybrid console have been eagerly awaiting the new console release of the battle royale. However, they may not have to wait too much longer.
Respawn Entertainment's battle royale has been one of the biggest multiplayer games in existence since it launched in 2019. There are a lot of things to expect in 2021 for Apex Legends; the impending Nintendo Switch release is just one of them.
According to Apex Legends News on Twitter, a Japanese trailer description suggests Apex Legends may be coming to the Nintendo Switch on February 2, 2021. This is when Season 8 is set to start in Apex Legends as well for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC players. This would mean, thanks to crossplay, Switch users could get to start their Apex Legends journey alongside the beginning of Season 8.
Season 8 will be a two-year celebration of Apex Legends, as the game came out on February 4, 2019. If the February 2 release date is true for the Nintendo Switch, it will be releasing almost two years to the date that the game initially released. It has been a long wait for Nintendo fans, as games like Overwatch and Fortnite are on the Switch, so Apex Legends always seemed possible. When it was announced over the summer of 2020, many fans rejoiced.
Since then, however, the Switch version of Apex Legends suffered a delay, and Respawn went mostly silent in terms of communication on the game. If it is finally ready, it will be exciting for Nintendo Switch players to jump into action and be able to enjoy all of the content that the community spent years building up. The base game was slightly bare-bones, but now Apex Legends has multiple maps, many different weapons, and a bevy of Legends to choose from.
The Nintendo Switch version of Apex Legends seems to be ready to go as it has already been rated for the console, so it shouldn't be a surprise if it is indeed ready for February 2. Additionally, Apex Legends was first launched as a surprise game with very little fanfare, made available to the public the same day it was revealed. For now, nothing is official, but it certainly could be true that Respawn and Nintendo will share an announcement sometime in the near future as the Switch version drops alongside Season 8.
Apex Legends is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Switch version currently in development.
