Xbox Game Pass for PC Confirms Control Release Date | Game Rant
In early January Microsoft revealed a bunch of new games coming to Xbox Game Pass to kick-off 2021. But it appears that, as is routine, not every game was confirmed in that initial reveal. Specifically, it appears that Xbox Game Pass for PC has at least one more game to release in January. Control, originally released on Xbox Game Pass for consoles in December 2020, is now confirmed to launch on Xbox Game Pass for PC on January 21.
Control officially released on August 27, 2019. Within months, leaks and rumors indicated the game would soon be released on Xbox Game Pass. Those rumors were shut down by Xbox boss Phil Spencer, who said at the time that Control was not coming to Game Pass. It's unclear if a deal was made at that time or not, but the truth of Spencer's words has now been refuted. Control launched on Xbox Game Pass on December 3 for console and Android.
No word regarding Control's release on Xbox Game Pass PC was made when it launched on console, however. Though around that time leaks indicated that Control would indeed be released on PC. Xbox hasn't revealed what the holdup was, but subscribers to Xbox Game Pass are likely okay with the delay now that a release date has been confirmed. All Game Pass subscribers will get to play in the end.
One thing to remember is that Xbox Game Pass does not typically include DLC content with games that are added to the subscription service. That remains the case for Control. The base game will be fully free to play for subscribers, but Control's DLC will have to be purchased separately.
Control is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S support releasing February 2.
