Destiny 2: How to Use New Ticuu's Divination Exotic Bow
With Season of the Chosen’s recent launch for Destiny 2, Bungie introduced players to a new and highly unusual exotic bow with the season pass. Ticuu’s Divination is a solar damage exotic weapon that can fire tracking arrows and create massive solar explosions.
This exotic bow can feel very strange to use at first. Once players understand the basic functions of the weapon, however, it can be great for clearing groups of minor and major enemies and dealing decent damage against bosses if heavy ammo is running low.
Players can acquire Ticuu’s Divination in two ways. Simply buying the Season of the Chosen season pass for Destiny 2 will instantly unlock the “Premium Rewards” pack which contains Ticuu’s Divination, as well as a set of the new Praefectus armor. Alternatively, any player can work their way up to level 35 on Destiny's season pass to unlock the exotic bow for free.
This bow has two exotic perks that synergize well. First, “Sacred Flames” allows the bow to fire three tracking arrows at once. Players need to hold down the fire button without aiming Ticuu’s Divination to draw these tracking arrows. While the bow is drawn, up to three targets can be locked onto, as shown by the red square appearing over an enemy. Releasing the fire button will shoot three arrows that will home in on their targets.
These arrows deal very little damage but also prime the target for a devastating explosion thanks to the second part of Sacred Flame, which causes any targets hit by these arrows to explode upon death, or to explode when hit by the explosion of another enemy. Primed targets can be easily identified by their orange glow and fiery embers that float off them.
Ticuu’s Divination is made even more powerful by its second exotic trait “Causality Arrows”. This trait allows arrows fired while aiming down sights to trigger Sacred Flame explosions. Even better, precision hits with perfectly drawn arrows create more powerful explosions. To fire a perfectly drawn arrow, players should release the fire button immediately after the animation for drawing the arrow finishes.
With Sacred Flame and Causality Arrows in mind, Ticuu’s Divination is used best when players can effectively alternate between hip-firing tracking arrows and landing precision hits with perfectly drawn arrows on primed enemies. Repeating this loop of priming targets and then detonating them allow players to create explosions that are large enough to kill multiple low-tier enemies at once, and powerful enough to deal good damage to bosses for a primary weapon.
The tracking arrows from Sacred Flame travel quickly and track aggressively but can be stopped by a tiny bit of cover. Players can improve the effectiveness of these arrows if they quickly flick their aim in one direction as they fire them. This will allow the arrows to curve around or over cover and hit the intended target, instead of just hitting the cover.
Furthermore, players should note that Sacred Flame explosions happen on an enemy’s death, regardless of who killed them. Players could fire several volleys of Sacred Flame arrows to prime lots of targets at once and then leave their other fireteam members to kill them and start an explosive chain reaction.
This exotic bow can also hold its own in the Crucible, although it requires players to be much more defensive in order to be used well. If a player can prime an enemy Guardian with a tracking arrow and follow it up with a perfectly drawn precision hit, the Guardian will die in a fiery explosion and maybe take someone else with them. However, this is a very time-consuming process in the Crucible and enemy Guardians can easily defeat any Ticuu’s Divination users as they are drawing an arrow.
Overall, this exotic bow is a great PvE primary weapon for Strikes and the new Battlegrounds seasonal activity. Trinity Ghoul is definitely the superior bow in terms of clearing out low-tier enemies, but the versatility of Ticuu’s Divination makes it one of the best bows available.
It can pair nicely with a kinetic special weapon, such as the Deep Stone Crypt slug shotgun Heritage, or with a close-range kinetic primary, including the new Extraordinary Rendition SMG. Swords and rocket launchers can make up for lost boss damage, or players could use a machine gun to lean into a fodder-smashing loadout.
Destiny 2: Beyond Light and the new Season of the Chosen are available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S
