Fan Art Imagines Resident Evil Village's Lady Dimitrescu in Marvel vs. Capcom
The internet's mad love for Lady Dimitrescu from Resident Evil Village really knows no bounds, including what other titles fans will start transporting the player into. One fan has perfectly recreated the character in the style of a classic Capcom fighting game to reimagine the "tall vampire lady" as a retro character.
Pixel artist Countgate is the latest to add to the long list of fan artists to reimagine Lady Dimitrescu in different styles, using their signature look to give the character a retro makeover. However, not to be outdone by other pixelated versions of Resident Evil Village's popular antagonist, Countgate crossed the piece over with the Marvel vs Capcom franchise.
Taking notes from what players have seen already in the Resident Evil Village demo, this new piece shows Lady Dimitrescu perfectly recreated in the colorful style of Marvel vs Capcom. Countgate even went as far as to show the new character pulling off a victory against the classic fighter's version of Gambit using the signature claws that have led to many player deaths in the new preview. The result is what appears to be a stunning screenshot of the retro fighter, even though the Resident Evil villain that inspired the piece isn't even in a released title yet.
Countgate also posted a transparent copy of the Lady Dimitrescu sprite, so anyone interested can start pulling the retro version of the character and placing her in new and unique positions. However, some onlookers have mentioned that her sprite doesn't appear at first to match up with Lady Dimitrescu's height in Resident Evil Village, at least when compared to the gambit sprite in the shared image. Of course, on a second comparison, and especially comparing her height to other sprites like Street Fighter's Ryu, she actually takes a rather commanding stature, it just so happens that Gambit is also pretty tall.
If imitation is the greatest form of flattery, then Capcom should be feeling the appreciation at this point, considering that Lady Dimitrescu cosplayers, artists, and animators have shared hundreds of pieces surrounding the character. While some fans works, like Countgate's retro recreation, stand out among the competition, there really is no shortage of content surrounding the character. At this point, it might be safe to say that players are definitely excited to see what else Resident Evil Village has to offer, though it may be difficult for some of these fans to have to eventually face off against Lady Dimitrescu in combat.
Resident Evil Village is set to launch May 7th, for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
