Nioh 2 Update Adds PS5 Cross-Save Support | Game Rant
Team Ninja’s action RPG Nioh 2 will be coming to the PlayStation 5 on February 5, 2021, as part of The Nioh Collection, which includes a remastered version of the first game, Nioh 2 Remastered, and all DLC for both titles. Players who already own both games and the DLC on PS4 will be able to upgrade to the PS5 versions for free.
In preparation for the launch of Nioh 2 on PS5, developer Team Ninja has released Patch 1.24, which adds cross-save functionality to the game. This will allow players who are still working their way through Nioh 2 on PS4 to transfer their save data to the PS5 and continue their journey through Japan’s Sengoku era uninterrupted. Saves can also be transferred from PS5 to PS4.
Players can access the function to transfer Nioh 2 saves between consoles by selecting “System” from the game’s title screen. This will allow gamers to upload their save files from one console and then download them to the new one.
The cross-save functionality comes with two minor caveats. Players can only download the save data using the same PSN account that was used to upload it. They will not be able, for example, to transfer a save to a friend or secondary account. Also, because trophies are handled differently by the PS4 and PS5 versions of Nioh 2, some trophies “that are difficult to earn again” will automatically be acquired when the save data is loaded on the new console.
The Patch 1.24 notes also clarify that the PS5 version of Nioh 2 does not support cross-matching, meaning it does not allow matching by Friends. Players will have to use the game’s password system to summon specific users.
Nioh 2 is currently available on PC, PS4, and launches on PS5 on February 5, 2021.
