Tfue Becomes Second Streamer to Reach 10 Million Twitch Followers

When it comes to which Twitch streamers to follow, there is something for everyone. Sometimes the criteria for a follow is the content provided, or perhaps the personality of the streamer, it could even be a random click on the Twitch front page that pushes someone towards a particular streamer. Some of the biggest names in streaming, like most-watched female streamers Valkyrae and Pokimane, have built up huge followings, but until now only one had reached 10 million followers, Ninja. Now Tfue is joining the exclusive 10 million club.

Much like his 10 million follower counterpart, Tfue's rise to the top hasn't been without some degree of controversy. The streamer, who rose to prominence playing Fortnite, has been locked in legal disputes with esports group FaZe Clan and been suspended from Twitch several times. When someone reaches the level of celebrity as Tfue has, there is bound to be additional scrutiny with every move watched by millions. Despite that, Tfue has continued to grow his follower base.

Announcing on Twitter that he had passed the 10 million follower mark on Twitch, Tfue is riding high at the top of the streaming world. While follows are not the only metric that matters on Twitch, subscriptions and hours watched are also major factors in gauging a streamer's audience, to be one of only two over 10 million means Tfue is doing something right.

Tfue does have some distance to go if he is looking to catch up to Ninja, who currently sits at 16.5 million followers. Ninja returned to Twitch last year after time spent on Mixer, and while his follower count is high, he is working to build back the audience he once had. Viewers on Twitch can be fickle and move on if a streamer is absent from the platform for too long. 10 million followers is still no easy task, so even if viewership takes a dip for one of these two, they still rank among the top streamers in most categories.

While Tfue started out as a major presence on the Fortnite scene, he has in recent months branched out to play a number of other games. Claiming that burnout led to him stepping away from Fortnite, Tfue has spent time playing Call of Duty: Warzone and Minecraft among other things. Given that Fortnite, while still huge, is not the only BR game in town now, there is room for streamers to branch out and try different games in the genre, or even outside of it entirely.
