Zack Snyder's Justice League Merch Teases Green Lantern's Arrival
When Justice League was released in theaters back in 2017, many unimpressed fans called for Zack Snyder to release his cut, especially after it was revealed that Warner Bros. had greatly altered his original vision. In anticipation of the director's version, fans have been speculating on what changes the director has made, with one of the most buzzed-about rumors being that Green Lantern will be making an appearance in the film.
The rumor comes after fans noticed that Green Lantern's symbol was included in merchandise for Zack Snyder's Justice League. The merchandise, which is produced by Ink to the People, is part of a campaign that celebrates the long fan-driven journey for the upcoming film. So far, the campaign has raised $4,351 and sold 682 units.
In past interviews, Snyder has been evasive on the topic of whether or not a member of the Green Lantern Corps will be showing up alongside the rest of the team in his version of Justice League. Nonetheless, fans are still clinging to the possibility that they will catch a glimpse of Hal Jordan or some other notable character from the comics. Of course, the inclusion of the Green Lantern symbol in the merchandise could just be a nod and nothing more. As of now, nothing regarding a possible appearance by a Green Lantern Corps member has been confirmed.
One detail we do know, however, is that the Snyder cut of Justice League won't have as many comedic moments in it as the 2017 version did. When one fan asked if the film would include any funny jokes, such as an exchange about Aquaman's ability to talk to fish, Snyder responded simply responded: "Not a lot of jokes." He also previously said he would not include a single frame of Joss Whedon's re-shoots, so it's very likely that quotable lines from the original version will not be included in the cut.
Snyder was given millions of dollars to fulfill his vision, which will involve a lot of editing, visual effects, and re-shoot work. Jared Leto's Joker, who was not part of the 2017 version, will reportedly be part of the re shoot process, so there's still a chance that Snyder will introduce other characters such as the Green Lantern as well.
Whether the Green Lantern will arrive in Snyder's cut of Justice League or not, fans can still get excited about the Green Lantern HBO Max series, which begins filming this spring. An update on a possible film about the Emerald Knight, on the other hand, hasn't been provided in some time.
Zack Snyder's Justice League is set to release on HBO Max on March 18, 2021.
