Despite Updates Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Still Has Not Fixed This Bug
While Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has improved its solo play experience and online multiplayer, one feature continues to fall into question. The title has been out for several months, and countless bugs have been resolved by the developers. Despite this, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War falls dreadfully short in its ability to allow split-screen gameplay.
For many fans, this is a minor problem with the title as online play now dominates the multiplayer space. Despite this, there is a dedicated Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War community that relies on split-screen within each Call of Duty title. Despite all of the game's advancements, playing with friends using any split-screen features is often near impossible.
The Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War split-screen gameplay has a multitude of problems involved with it. From graphics not rendering properly to players disappearing completely, the title has yet to master one of the simplest systems in console gaming. This has become one of many titles developed by Treyarch that have fallen short in regards to split-screen accessibility. While Infinity Ward seems to handle it relatively well, it seems that Activision is not demanding uniform features and quality across its games. As players try and force split-screen gameplay within the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War engine, the system seems to only go from bad to worse with every fix.
Split-screen has been a staple of the console gaming experience for years, and the fact that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fails to provide a solution frustrates many fans. In its current state, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War does not extend the screen all the way to the edge resulting in black bars on both sides. Further, the game has jagged framerates, persisting bugs, and a noticeable quality drop from what fans would expect from an AAA title.
During launch, things were much worse as some players were able to see the second player as a red outline. While this feature was intended for Gunfight matches, to have it for the entirety of a match ruined the balance that players were hoping for. Every Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War bug in split-screen that gets fixed seems to spawn another problem within the game mode, and fans don't understand why.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War still has several months before the next title releases, and in that time, fans are hoping to see improvements within the title. While fixing multiplayer bugs and Zombie glitches is good, many players wonder if split-screen will ever find its way back to a playable state.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
