Genshin Impact: How to Find & Beat Lupus Boreas | Game Rant
One of the most challenging enemies that Genshin Impact players will face on their journey across Mondstadt is Lupus Boreas. Unlike the various Regisvine and Hypostasis bosses in the region, Lupus Boreas switches between two elements, making it significantly more challenging to identify his weakness.
Genshin Impact players will find Lupus Boreas in the Wolvendom region of Mondstadt. Because players are unable to fast-travel directly to a boss location, players have two options of reaching Lupus Boreas; a waypoint to the northeast, and a waypoint west of Dawn Winery. While most players are likely to select the waypoint to the Northeast, this path to Lupus Boreas is quite lengthy, and players will encounter several Hilichurl mobs along the way. As a result, the ideal method of reaching Lupus Boreas is to fast-travel to the waypoint west of Dawn Winery and climb the cliff to reach the boss domain.
Prior to starting the battle with Lupus Boreas, players should be aware that unlike the Regisvine bosses, rewards for beating Lupus Boreas can only be claimed once per week. Additionally, while the resin cost of claiming the reward for most bosses is 40, to claim the reward at the end of the Lupus Boreas fight, players must pay 60 resin.
In terms of party composition for the boss, players should be sure to bring at least one pyro character and one electro character. This will allow players to trigger the Overloaded reaction which deals additional pyro damage to Lupus Boreas. Ideally, if players have two pyro characters in their party they will gain an additional 25% attack buff and will have all damage dealt by cryo effects reduced by 40%.
It is also important to note that Lupus Boreas is immune to both cryo and anemo damage. As a result, players looking to bring Ganyu or Xiao to the fight as damage dealers should rethink their party composition.
During the first stage of the battle, the majority of the attacks launched by Lupus Boreas will be cryo-based and easily telegraphed. An easy way to tell that Lupus Boreas is getting ready to attack is by the frost that is generated around him. During this stage, the ideal strategy is for the player to maintain distance from the boss and only get close when activating party members' elemental burst abilities.
After a set amount of time has passed, Lupus Boreas will begin running around the arena while taking a break to charge at the player. The attacks in this phase can be easily avoided, as Lupus takes a significant amount of time to charge up his attack before running at the player.
In the boss's second stage, Lupus Boreas will utilize many of the attacks from the first half of the fight, but will also throw in some ranged anemo abilities. During this stage, the ideal time to deal damage is when he is charging his anemo energy or using his cryo shower ability.
Once players defeat Lupus Boreas they will receive several high-level artifacts, and most importantly, several rare talent ascension materials for specific characters.
Genshin Impact is available now on PC, Mobile, and PS4, and is currently in development for PS5 and Switch.
