Madden Player Loses Easy Victory By Showboating | Game Rant
A big element of sports is some good, old-fashioned showboating. For individuals who get to the top of the sports world, it makes sense to high step like Deion Sanders or pump a fist like Tiger Woods. In sports video games titles like Madden NFL 21 have even implemented taunting mechanics to flaunt while running toward the end zone, or dive with some extra flair toward the goal line. However, those moves come with some added risk, and Madden NFL players need to know that a show-off can quickly fumble the ball away.
Some of the most hilarious moments in football are the follies that have been compiled throughout its history, and Madden NFL has some hilarious moments as well thanks to goofy physics and mechanics that are designed to keep players in check. Recently, a Madden NFL player uploaded a video of someone bungling the game away thanks to some terribly timed showboating.
Reddit user dvd5671 posted a video on r/Madden recently of himself and an online opponent in a very intense game. His opponent had the football with just over a minute left, and the game was tied at 21. If his opponent scored even a field goal, the game would likely have been over. In the game and video, his opponent tossed the ball to the running back and broke free toward the end zone, but instead of running it in, he started a Madden NFL user-controlled celebration with defenders close by. The result was that the running back got tackled, fumbled the football, and dvd5671's team secured possession, then went on to win the game.
The player seemed to be playing Madden Ultimate Team (MUT), as the New York Jets had Aaron Rodgers tossing the ball to J.D. McKissic, players who are not on the Jets roster. MUT is a solid game mode, but Madden NFL 21 did not see many new upgrades in areas like MUT, Franchise, and others. The best aspect of Madden NFL 21, where crazy style moves are much easier to pull off, is The Yard. That game mode is designed to showboat and show off, as juke and triple passes are a part of every play as opposed to the standard simulation that is in the other modes.
One funny element of the video is that the two teams going against each other were the New York Jets and the Cleveland Browns, teams that have been in NFL purgatory for a long time. It perhaps should not be a surprise that the team behind the fumble (Jets) also showboated too early and lost the game in an online match. The Browns, however, look to be turning it around with a solid new coach, a strong running back duo, and even a player who could one day be a Madden NFL cover star with Baker Mayfield.
Madden NFL 21 is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
