My Hero Academia: 8 Characters With Strong Attacks They Rarely Use
The lovable characters in My Hero Academia were born with quirks of all kinds and variations. Within the three types of quirks, Mutant, Emitter, and Transformation, there are some quirks that are more powerful in combat than others. While some upcoming and current pro heroes use their powers on a wide scale, never wasting an opportunity to get their hands dirty against villains, there are other characters who vastly underuse their strong abilities.
From Class 1-A alone, there are multiple students with quirks of unbelievable strength, yet they don't use them as they should. Some pro heroes have abilities that shouldn't be underestimated, yet they aren't seen using them as often as other pro heroes. Hopefully, these mighty characters get the chance to unleash their true potential in the near future!
8 Fumikage Tokoyami
Tokoyami proved his strength in the UA Sports Festival, achieving third place. His Dark Shadow can deal some major damage with his super moves Black Abyss and Ragnarok. Pro hero Hawks also taught him to also control his quirk to make him fly, which is an invaluable skill in the age of heroes.
Though we've seen his power grow to an exemplary scale on a couple of occasions, he doesn't seem to use it as often as Deku breaks his bones or Todoroki blasts out his mountains of ice. Hopefully, as Tokoyami gets a little more practice taming Dark Shadow, he will get more time to shine in the story.
7 Cementoss
A pro hero who doesn't use their quirk nearly to the capacity that they should is Cementoss. This hero can manipulate cement at will, and he can control tons of it at a time. His power has mainly been demonstrated within school grounds, so he has to make sure he's being safe and not putting anyone in harm's way. However, his quirk could literally take out everyone in an entire city in the blink of an eye.
Imagine a group of villains attacking in the street; Give Cementoss a single second and he could have them drowning in cement, rendered completely helpless in an instant. Recently, the manga gave fans a small glimpse of his mighty power, and hopefully, he can continue to show off his great worth in the story.
6 Momo Yaoyorozu
Yaoyorozu, or Creati, arguably has one of the most valuable and incredible quirks in the entire My Hero universe. She can create virtually anything just by knowing the elemental breakdown of it. Because she is so intelligent, she knows how to create a vast collection of valuable items to use in combat and rescue missions.
We've seen her pull out defensive gear and offensive gear, including an entire cannon! Her lack of confidence may be holding her back at the moment, but once she grows stronger in her abilities, Momo Yaoyorozu will definitely become a top pro hero with her Creation quirk.
5 Nejire Hado
Nejire is hailed by UA as a part of the Big Three, alongside Mirio and Tamaki. Though she has clearly proved herself to be an immensely powerful upcoming hero, having interned with one of the top pro-heroes and boasting impeccable stats, she is very underutilized and isn't seen using her valuable Wave Motion quirk very often.
Nejire doesn't even get a backstory, unlike her two male counterparts! She is one of the toughest UA students in the manga, yet she isn't shown doing much besides being in a beauty pageant. Her skills are vastly underused and hopefully, that changes soon.
4 Himiko Toga
Though Toga does strengthen her quirk through the Meta Liberation Army arc to become even more of a threat to the hero society, she doesn't use her Transform quirk nearly as much as she could. Although it can get risky trying to get someone's blood to be able to transform into them, Toga could gather so much intel, and even kidnap important characters, if she pretended to be high-ranking members of society.
All Might is now in a completely weakened state; the highly-skilled Toga could easily snatch a bit of blood from him, transform into the former #1 hero, and simply lead an unknowing Deku to her spooky villain crew. Being able to turn into other people, complete with their voice and outfit, is a quirk that should definitely be used more.
3 Kyoka Jiro
We've seen the type of damage that powerful sound waves can make since Present Mic is a top pro-hero whose quirk is similar to Jiro's. Blasting her heartbeat to deafen and hinder her opponent's abilities with her super move Amplifier Jack is something that Jiro doesn't do too often, even though she could take down any of her foes with that ability.
It might be because Horikoshi doesn't know how to develop female characters or because the story just hasn't incorporated her immaculate abilities into the plot line yet, but we hope Jiro will be able to show off her mighty offensive skills in future seasons.
2 Principal Nezu
Nezu is a combination of multiple animals, sporting the appearance of a mouse, bear, and dog in one. His quirk is High Spec, which gives him an intelligence level higher than a human. The principal is supposed to be able to outsmart and out plan any opponent he is up against, yet so many villains attack and even kill the pro-heroes in Nezu's own school and city. He should be using his incredible intellect to plan alongside the heroes and thwart the villain's plans before they can hurt anyone else.
1 Mina Ashido
The upcoming hero Pinky has strengths beyond what has been shown in the anime so far. She is confirmed to be one of the strongest students in Class 1A, and has the best reflexes out of all the girls. Ashido already has a large collection of well-rounded powerful moves that involve her acid, on both the defensive and offensive, including Acid Veil and Acid Shot.
She has so much valued potential, she even got to intern under the No. 9 pro hero. Horikoshi admitted that he wanted to give her more time to shine in the story but hasn't yet. Fans hope to see a deeper backstory and a more developed hero style for Ashido soon!
