Neo-Nazi Symbol Spotted In Call of Duty: Warzone By Ukraine Fan
Call of Duty: Warzone is set in an alternative history based on semi-real political bodies. Generally, the Call of Duty storyline follows a fictional plot, but it is not uncommon that real-world assets find their way into the game. A fan recently noticed that a Call of Duty: Warzone bundle includes a rather disturbing real-world equivalent, and they were not shy to point it out.
In-game iconography is often a point of discussion among the Call of Duty: Warzone fan base. From insignias on the soldiers to marks on the weapon design, Call of Duty: Warzone's community loves to try and find the real-world connection. As one player was looking closer at the Chimera pack, they realized an unsettling detail with the Chimera symbol from a real-world organization.
A Reddit user has posted an image with a starting headline. The Call of Duty: Warzone logo of Chimera squad appears to be a direct rip from a real-life Neo-Nazi battalion located in Ukraine. The user provided two images as evidence, with one being from the game and the other showcasing a Google search result. The emblem in question is the purple and gold logo that YEGOR wears on his right arm. The fan who posted these images shares a concern with the community that they believe the use of the emblem may not have been an accident. Comparing the two images, it appears almost identical except for a color swap between the background and the logo itself.
In the comments, the Reddit user breaks down the concern they have over this similar Call of Duty: Warzone symbol. The Neo-Nazi organization that they are referring to is known as the Azov Battalion. The organization has been guilty of war crimes within Ukraine against minority groups.
According to the Reddit user, the US government has declared them a threat to humanity and refuses to give aid to the Ukraine if they support Azov. In a further link, they show that they are not the first Call of Duty: Warzone fan to notice the icon.
The Reddit user continues to provide evidence throughout the comments pointing towards other groups with similar imagery. Many Call of Duty: Warzone fans are surprised by the oversight provided this information is true. Many fans still remember when Call of Duty: Warzone removed the OK emote due to its supposed link to white supremacy. With this memory fresh in their minds, some players are waiting for Activision to remove the possibly problematic emblem.
Call of Duty: Warzone is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
