New Update for Rainbow Six Siege Results in Drones Spawning Inside Level Geometry
The long-awaited Crimson Heist update has arrived for players in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege. With it comes a new attack operator, a new battle pass, and a variety of changes to existing parts of the game.
Other than the introduction of Flores, many Rainbow Six Siege players were excited for the Border map to be reworked for this update. It hasn't undergone any changes since its implementation in the Operation Dust Line expansion back in 2016, meaning that these changes would help make the map fresher and better to play on. Unfortunately, players have found an annoying glitch on its newly reworked version, causing plenty of trouble for attacking operators.
The glitch on the 2021 reworked version of Border can easily affect any player on the attacking team. It causes the drones that spawn by the air conditioning units to spawn inside the unit instead of on top of it. This will mean that the owners of these drones cannot use them to scout out the map, as they will be unable to exit the air conditioner model. A screenshot of this glitch can be seen below.
The possible cause of this glitch could be that the spawn locations of the drones were not changed for the update, although the level geometry around them was changed. Backing this theory up, those who have their drones inside the air conditioner model can see another air conditioner below the one they are inside. This implies that developers stacked another air conditioner on top of the existing one with players originally meant to spawn on top of the bottom one.
As mentioned previously, this glitch can be very irritating for attacking Rainbow Six Siege players as they can be suddenly prevented from using all of their drones without defenders needing to do anything. So far, there is no known way to escape from the air conditioner or to have an operator just pick the drone up. For operators like Twitch, this glitch can be especially damaging due to how valuable her shock drones are.
It is unknown when this glitch will be fixed, but it likely won't be around for long due to how much of a disadvantage it gives to attacking operators. The nature of the glitch also being based on just the drone's spawn point and not the air conditioner's collision likely means that this glitch won't take too long to actually fix. Players should prepare for a Rainbow Six Siege hotfix in the near future.
Rainbow Six Siege is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S consoles.
